Linux apt/deb Repositories #4955
Comments
@dctrwatson fyi ^^ |
@dctrwatson is there more work needed for this issue? |
@sougou afaik, there’s only the rpm/deb package for now. We need to integrate this with a Vitess Repository that is signed so that users can add that repository and be able to receive authenticated/verified rpms/debs directly from us. This integration will allow people to use their existing tooling such as dpkg/apt/dnf with Vitess deb/rpm pkgs respectively. |
I have renamed this to apt/deb repositories, since we already produce and publish deb and rpms. We will be slimming binaries, and stop bundling dependencies in 5.0, so lets give it a chance to bake and incorporate feedback before publishing repos. |
Feature Description
As a SRE, I want to have access to linux distribution packages that would aid in the installation of Vitess on my self-managed (aka sans-k8s) infrastructure.
Use Case(s)
Linux distributions provide a standardized way to manage the life cycle of software via their respective package managers. We should strive to provide the following packages integrated via Vitess CI at the minimum:
We should integrate these artifacts via the standard package manager repositories so that it becomes easier to consume the packages and manage them through their lifecycle.
