Custom stub method is not a function?

Hey,
I'm trying to write a unit test for my class which uses a custom stub:

      render: () => {},
      methods: {
        initImages: vi.fn(),
        makeImagesNotVisible: vi.fn(),
        swapImage() {
          console.log(3);
          this.$emit('imagesLoadingError');
        },
        prepareForSwap: vi.fn(),
      }
    };
    wrapper = shallowMount(ImageViewer, {
      global: {
        plugins: [store],
        mocks: {
          $route
        },
        stubs: {
          PixiStage: pixiStub2
        }
      }
    });

I'm doing it this way because my class runs stuff like the following code: this.$refs.pixiStage.prepareForSwap([newImageDetails], this.oldImage.fileId);.
The tests all pass but I'm getting the error: TypeError: this.$refs.pixiStage.prepareForSwap is not a function
Note I tried: prepareForSwap() {}, as well but got same error.

My bad, the issue was I think to do with already having a global wrapper variable and I'm guessing it used that one instead of the new one I created.
