According to the README

##### `manage_epel`

EPEL repositories shall be needed only for RHEL6.

Anyhow, the EPEL repository is declared compatible only up to the version 4.0.0.

"version_requirement": ">=3.0.0 <4.0.0"

The EPEL 4.1.0 package has been released on March 26th 2022, the 5.0.0 version has been released on Aug 22nd 2023.

  • Why is the version compatibility limit to 4.0.0?
  • Would make sense to remove the limit and eventually face the bugs kicking in (which shall affect RHEL6 only), instead of jeopardizing the usage for a larger community?

Unfortunately i don't have the possibility to test a machine running with RHEL.
