This is my quick experiment of setting up a CRAN repo on Github. It is purely experimental. I cannot stop you from starring or forking this repo, but please do not tweet about it or send it to any social network websites, because I do not want to give people an impression that I'm trying to fragment the R package community, which will be too bad.

The goal here is to be able to install source packages via the repo https://xran.yihui.org. Most of my packages are written in pure R, so they can be easily installed on Windows/OS X (even without Rtools/Xcode). I do not care about binary packages here, and that is why CRAN is valuable.
