Future of YUIdoc #263
Comments
AFAIK YUIDoc has been a true 'open source' project for a long time in that it has been supported by members of the community at least as much as by yahoo employees. I don't know if commit privileges are currently limited to yahoo employees. Hopefully not. |
looking some stats: last commit Apr. 22, open issues 84 (except this), 13 unresolved pull requests The thing, why I stared this issue is simple, I want to use some doc lib for my project, I really like YUIdoc, but if this project is not going to be maintained actively. Then based on reasonable and rational facts I've choose some different library/project. Just to make things clear and simple to understand |
This is a good point. Does Yahoo have a plan to hand over the commit privileges to the community so the project can maintain itself? |
Well, it doesn't look like this is still maintained at all... what solution did you go pick in the end lexander? I need to document a pretty big project. I have everything set up for Yuidoc... luckily, I haven't started writing actual documentation yet... Wherever I turn, I find half-finished and unmaintained modules! |
@okuryu of course I trust you! jejejeje, added you to the contributors list. I'm still looking for others (specially non-yahoo employes) to help you. any suggestion? I'm thinking @limikael, @evocateur, @andrewnicols, and co. |
@mercmobily I am using YUIDoc to generate docs for every project I'm on (professional and personal). For me, the current feature set (specifically links to parent classes and the easy-to-read layout) are sufficient to warrant continued use even if there are no new features added to the core product. Fair warning - I am a Y employee. |
Mr. Shusta, you are already part of this selected group. jejejeje |
@caridy I think that you need to update maintainers at npm if you want to hand over the reins of power to someone completely. https://www.npmjs.org/package/yuidocjs |
I'm game. I like YUIDoc and it's featureset, and I'd be happy to be part of a group maintaining it for future. |
@andrewnicols added! $ npm owner add andrewnicols yuidocjs
$ npm owner add okuryu yuidocjs @lexander I don't know your npm username. @okuryu can add you later on... alright guys, you're ready to roll, I will still be around reviewing new features :) |
@caridy Awesome, thanks! |
Hi guys, Sorry if I'm a bit late to the party, but I'm very honored to be thought of My username on npm is limikael Cheers! // Mikael On Mon, Oct 20, 2014 at 7:00 PM, Caridy Patiño notifications@github.com

I would also like to make contributions, so I volunteer as a person who is willing to work on tasks and stuff related to the YUIdoc project. |
@vire awesome, there is a lot to do, check the open issues, and send PRs, once you have a proven record, we can promote you to contributor. |
Hi Guys, after reading that yahoo terminated YUI, is there a chance that yuidoc will be maintained in the future, if not please post some announcements (according support & new features) on the title page.
