is this repo dead? #69

I think (almost) everything is broken/breaking w/ AirbnbApi v3. Imma try and see what I can do but I might just start a new repo to support v3 |
Hello guys. I'm sorry to have been neglecting this repo. After Airbnb
implemented stronger anti bot features and a new schema, as well as
favouring a graphql implementation for its mobile app, I felt like
maintaining this repo would be a poor use of my time. I can no longer
reverse engineer the data flow for the app and I'm anxious about legal
issues surrounding providing a solution that Airbnb offers as a commercial
product (API access). I fully understand that this situation hurts indie
developers wanting to use Airbnb data for research or novel use cases. And
I can only apologise for that.

Also, sorry for ghosting instead of keeping the readme updated. I hope
that as fellow devs you can understand we often move on to other projects
and sometimes don't take the time to look for a solution to an aging
repo. Kept feeling more guilty the longer it because since my last push. Bigger fish to fry, as they say.

Just curious what legal issues would creating an after market api infringe on? would it be some sort of data privacy issue or some copyright? |
@DIvkov575 I'll be honest with you, I never actually looked into the details, But I just figure if a piece of software I publish offers similar functionality to Airbnb api clients paying thousands of dollars a month for the privilege, an Airbnb lawyer will try to throw the book at me. Happily, I've not received any legal emails due to this repo. It's possible I'm mistaken in my understanding of the legal ground regarding this issue. It's becoming a more widely known issue after the reddit API debacle. Perhaps this'll be common knowledge one day? If anyone with some evidence of responsible open source contributions on their account would like to take over this repo, please let me know in this issue, and I will happily grant the rights. lets tag a few pr request users. |
Has anyone figured out how messaging works? Thanks. |
