Learning is hard. This page serves as a central location to understand words, phrases, and acronyms that are encountered when learning about the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) instance of eRegulations (a regulation parser, API, and viewer)
- OMB = White House Office of Management and Budget
- eRegulations (eRegs) = A regulation parser, API, and viewer. More info here.
- Requirement = A sentence that says a directive. Likely to be done for a certain reason by a specific date.
- Policy = Document that contains one or many requirements. An example of showing a full “policy doc” with the actual requirements highlighted in-line
- ECFR = Electronic code of federal regulations
- CFPB = Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. ERegs began with with CFPB.
- FEC = Federal Election Commission
- ATF = Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Utilized the eRegs platform.
- EPA = Environmental Protection Agency
- Notice and comment = A phrase that came as an extension of eRegs as a way to allow users to comment on regulations and have that comment be submitted to regulations.gov.
- FDMS = Federal document management system
- CIO = Chief Information Officer
- OFCIO = Office of the Chief Information Officer
- ATO = Authority to operate
- GC = OMB’s general counsel
- OIRA = Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs
