Detailed results

All benchmarks are run on txs on the Benchmarking contract on the repository. Each tx consists of a batch call to create_note and increment_balance, which guarantees that each tx has a private call, a nested private call, a public call, and a nested public call, as well as an emitted private note, an unencrypted log, and public storage read and write.

This benchmark source data is available in JSON format on S3 here.

Values are compared against data from master at commit 545b3341 and shown if the difference exceeds 1%.

I think this implementation is already in the types in global_variables.nr, should we not just be importing that so we don't end up repeating.

If not removing it, can you use the constant value instead of a hardcoded number in here?

Makes sense. I will try removing it in the PR up the stack.

Unclear if you could just use address zero. If the fees require a refund that is initiated by the fee recipient that one will be a problem. But if not could likely work, but just throwing away all fees and rewards.

I think we should do that because if the intention of the sequencer is to burn their rewards they can set coinbase to 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD and feeRecipient to some other burner value. Allowing for 0 could lead to accidental losses due to misconfiguration.

But I also think that it makes sense to tackle later as currently it's convenient to not have to bother with proper configs so would just create the issue and link it in here an in sequencer.ts. Would you agree?

Similar to above. Should we look at constraining it to not be 0?

Would be neat adding a private test just ensuring that the historical headers are correctly populated. This would likely be useful anyway to ensure that the full header is populated as expected 👀

Should probably add the same in private to be thorough.
