[ Upstream commit c019d92457826bb7b2091c86f36adb5de08405f9 ] 'setup_find_cpu_node()' take a reference on the node it returns. This reference must be decremented when not needed anymore, or there will be a leak. Add the missing 'of_node_put(cpu)'. Note that 'setup_cpuinfo()' that also calls this function already has a correct 'of_node_put(cpu)' at its end. [ Upstream commit dbb5afad100a828c97e012c6106566d99f041db6 ] Suppose we have 2 threads, the group-leader L and a sub-theread T, both parked in ptrace_stop(). Debugger tries to resume both threads and does ptrace(PTRACE_CONT, T); ptrace(PTRACE_CONT, L); If the sub-thread T execs in between, the 2nd PTRACE_CONT doesn not resume the old leader L, it resumes the post-exec thread T which was actually now stopped in PTHREAD_EVENT_EXEC. In this case the PTHREAD_EVENT_EXEC event is lost, and the tracer can't know that the tracee changed its pid. This patch makes ptrace() fail in this case until debugger does wait() and consumes PTHREAD_EVENT_EXEC which reports old_pid. This affects all ptrace requests except the "asynchronous" PTRACE_INTERRUPT/KILL. The patch doesn't add the new PTRACE_ option to not complicate the API, and I _hope_ this won't cause any noticeable regression: - If debugger uses PTRACE_O_TRACEEXEC and the thread did an exec and the tracer does a ptrace request without having consumed the exec event, it's 100% sure that the thread the ptracer thinks it is targeting does not exist anymore, or isn't the same as the one it thinks it is targeting. - To some degree this patch adds nothing new. In the scenario above ptrace(L) can fail with -ESRCH if it is called after the execing sub-thread wakes the leader up and before it "steals" the leader's pid. Test-case: #include <stdio.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <signal.h> #include <sys/ptrace.h> #include <sys/wait.h> #include <errno.h> #include <pthread.h> #include <assert.h> void *tf(void *arg) { execve("/usr/bin/true", NULL, NULL); assert(0); return NULL; } int main(void) { int leader = fork(); if (!leader) { kill(getpid(), SIGSTOP); pthread_t th; pthread_create(&th, NULL, tf, NULL); for (;;) pause(); return 0; } waitpid(leader, NULL, WSTOPPED); ptrace(PTRACE_SEIZE, leader, 0, PTRACE_O_TRACECLONE | PTRACE_O_TRACEEXEC); waitpid(leader, NULL, 0); ptrace(PTRACE_CONT, leader, 0,0); waitpid(leader, NULL, 0); int status, thread = waitpid(-1, &status, 0); assert(thread > 0 && thread != leader); assert(status == 0x80137f); ptrace(PTRACE_CONT, thread, 0,0); /* * waitid() because waitpid(leader, &status, WNOWAIT) does not * report status. commit d201d7631ca170b038e7f8921120d05eec70d7c5 upstream. When using smb2_copychunk_range() for large ranges we will run through several iterations of a loop calling SMB2_ioctl() but never actually free the returned buffer except for the final iteration. commit 0edabdfe89581669609eaac5f6a8d0ae6fe95e7f upstream. Mackie d.2 has an extension card for IEEE 1394 communication, which uses BridgeCo DM1000 ASIC. On the other hand, Mackie d.4 Pro has built-in function for IEEE 1394 communication by Oxford Semiconductor OXFW971, according to schematic diagram available in Mackie website. Although I misunderstood that Mackie d.2 Pro would be also a model with OXFW971, it's wrong. Mackie d.2 Pro is a model which includes the extension card as factory settings. commit 94f88309f201821073f57ae6005caefa61bf7b7e upstream. This reverts commit dcd0fea. Because of recent interactions with developers from @umn.edu, all commits from them have been recently re-reviewed to ensure if they were correct or not. Upon review, this commit was found to be incorrect for the reasons below, so it must be reverted. It will be fixed up "correctly" in a later kernel change. The original commit message for this change was incorrect as the code path can never result in a NULL dereference, alluding to the fact that whatever tool was used to "find this" is broken. It's just an optional resource reservation, so removing this check is fine. commit c81d3d24602540f65256f98831d0a25599ea6b87 upstream. When multiple PCI devices get assigned to a guest right at boot, libxl incrementally populates the backend tree. The writes for the first of the devices trigger the backend watch. In turn xen_pcibk_setup_backend() will set the XenBus state to Initialised, at which point no further reconfigures would happen unless a device got hotplugged. Arrange for reconfigure to also get triggered from the backend watch handler. commit c699a0db2d62e3bbb7f0bf35c87edbc8d23e3062 upstream. The following commands will crash the kernel: modprobe brd rd_size=1048576 dmsetup create o --table "0 `blockdev --getsize /dev/ram0` snapshot-origin /dev/ram0" dmsetup create s --table "0 `blockdev --getsize /dev/ram0` snapshot /dev/ram0 /dev/ram1 N 0" The reason is that when we test for zero chunk size, we jump to the label bad_read_metadata without setting the "r" variable. The function snapshot_ctr destroys all the structures and then exits with "r == 0". The kernel then crashes because it falsely believes that snapshot_ctr succeeded. In order to fix the bug, we set the variable "r" to -EINVAL. commit d03d1021da6fe7f46efe9f2a7335564e7c9db5ab upstream. The fields, "toc" and "cd_info", of "struct gdrom_unit gd" are allocated in "probe_gdrom()". Prevent a memory leak by making sure "gd.cd_info" is deallocated in the "remove_gdrom()" function. Also prevent double free of the field "gd.toc" by moving it from the module's exit function to "remove_gdrom()". This is because, in "probe_gdrom()", the function makes sure to deallocate "gd.toc" in case of any errors, so the exit function invoked later would again free "gd.toc". The patch also maintains consistency by deallocating the above mentioned fields in "remove_gdrom()" along with another memory allocated field "gd.disk". As Peter points out, if we were to disconnect and then reconnect this driver from a device, the "global" state of the device would contain odd values and could cause problems. Fix this up by just initializing the whole thing to 0 at probe() time. Ideally this would be a per-device variable, but given the age and the total lack of users of it, that would require a lot of s/./->/g changes for really no good reason. commit 84460f01cba382553199bc1361f69a872d5abed4 upstream. The function qlcnic_dl_lb_test() currently calls netdev_alloc_skb() without checking afterwards that the allocation succeeded. Fix this by checking if the skb is NULL and returning an error in such a case. Breaking out of the loop if the skb is NULL is not correct as no error would be reported to the caller and no message would be printed for the user. Cc: David S. commit dc13cac4862cc68ec74348a80b6942532b7735fa upstream. The return of ioremap if not checked, and can lead to a NULL to be assigned to hga_vram. Potentially leading to a NULL pointer dereference. The fix adds code to deal with this case in the error label and changes how the hgafb_probe handles the return of hga_card_detect. commit d4d0ad57b3865795c4cde2fb5094c594c2e8f469 upstream. Fix an issue with VGA console font size changes made after the initial video text mode has been changed with a user tool like `svgatextmode' calling the VT_RESIZEX ioctl. As it stands in that case the original screen geometry continues being used to validate further VT resizing. Consequently when the video adapter is firstly reprogrammed from the original say 80x25 text mode using a 9x16 character cell (720x400 pixel resolution) to say 80x37 text mode and the same character cell (720x592 pixel resolution), and secondly the CRTC character cell updated to 9x8 (by loading a suitable font with the KD_FONT_OP_SET request of the KDFONTOP ioctl), the VT geometry does not get further updated from 80x37 and only upper half of the screen is used for the VT, with the lower half showing rubbish corresponding to whatever happens to be there in the video memory that maps to that part of the screen. Of course the proportions change according to text mode geometries and font sizes chosen. Address the problem then, by updating the text mode geometry defaults rather than checking against them whenever the VT is resized via a user ioctl. Signed-off-by: Maciej W. commit 860dafa902595fb5f1d23bbcce1215188c3341e6 upstream. Restore the original intent of the VT_RESIZEX ioctl's `v_clin' parameter which is the number of pixel rows per character (cell) rather than the height of the font used. For framebuffer devices the two values are always the same, because the former is inferred from the latter one. For VGA used as a true text mode device these two parameters are independent from each other: the number of pixel rows per character is set in the CRT controller, while font height is in fact hardwired to 32 pixel rows and fonts of heights below that value are handled by padding their data with blanks when loaded to hardware for use by the character generator. One can change the setting in the CRT controller and it will update the screen contents accordingly regardless of the font loaded. The `v_clin' parameter is used by the `vgacon' driver to set the height of the character cell and then the cursor position within. Make the parameter explicit then, by defining a new `vc_cell_height' struct member of `vc_data', set it instead of `vc_font.height' from `v_clin' in the VT_RESIZEX ioctl, and then use it throughout the `vgacon' driver except where actual font data is accessed which as noted above is independent from the CRTC setting. This way the framebuffer console driver is free to ignore the `v_clin' parameter as irrelevant, as it always should have, avoiding any issues attempts to give the parameter a meaning there could have caused, such as one that has led to commit 988d076 ("vt_ioctl: make VT_RESIZEX behave like VT_RESIZE"): "syzbot is reporting UAF/OOB read at bit_putcs()/soft_cursor() [1][2], for vt_resizex() from ioctl(VT_RESIZEX) allows setting font height larger than actual font height calculated by con_font_set() from ioctl(PIO_FONT). Since fbcon_set_font() from con_font_set() allocates minimal amount of memory based on actual font height calculated by con_font_set(), use of vt_resizex() can cause UAF/OOB read for font data." The problem first appeared around Linux 2.5.66 which predates our repo history, but the origin could be identified with the old MIPS/Linux repo also at: <git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ralf/linux.git> as commit 9736a3546de7 ("Merge with Linux 2.5.66."), where VT_RESIZEX code in `vt_ioctl' was updated as follows: if (clin) - video_font_height = clin; + vc->vc_font.height = clin; making the parameter apply to framebuffer devices as well, perhaps due to the use of "font" in the name of the original `video_font_height' variable. Use "cell" in the new struct member then to avoid ambiguity. commit 0711f0d7050b9e07c44bc159bbc64ac0a1022c7f upstream. During boot, kernel_init_freeable() initializes `cad_pid` to the init task's struct pid. Later on, we may change `cad_pid` via a sysctl, and when this happens proc_do_cad_pid() will increment the refcount on the new pid via get_pid(), and will decrement the refcount on the old pid via put_pid(). As we never called get_pid() when we initialized `cad_pid`, we decrement a reference we never incremented, can therefore free the init task's struct pid early. As there can be dangling references to the struct pid, we can later encounter a use-after-free (e.g. when delivering signals). This was spotted when fuzzing v5.13-rc3 with Syzkaller, but seems to have been around since the conversion of `cad_pid` to struct pid in commit 9ec5209 ("[PATCH] replace cad_pid by a struct pid") from the pre-KASAN stone age of v2.6.19. Fix this by getting a reference to the init task's struct pid when we assign it to `cad_pid`. commit 6bba4471f0cc1296fe3c2089b9e52442d3074b2e upstream. When fallocate punches holes out of inode size, if original isize is in the middle of last cluster, then the part from isize to the end of the cluster will be zeroed with buffer write, at that time isize is not yet updated to match the new size, if writeback is kicked in, it will invoke ocfs2_writepage()->block_write_full_page() where the pages out of inode size will be dropped. That will cause file corruption. Fix this by zero out eof blocks when extending the inode size. Running the following command with qemu-image 4.2.1 can get a corrupted coverted image file easily. qemu-img convert -p -t none -T none -f qcow2 $qcow_image \ -O qcow2 -o compat=1.1 $qcow_image.conv The usage of fallocate in qemu is like this, it first punches holes out of inode size, then extend the inode size. fallocate(11, FALLOC_FL_KEEP_SIZE|FALLOC_FL_PUNCH_HOLE, 2276196352, 65536) = 0 fallocate(11, 0, 2276196352, 65536) = 0 v1: https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-fsdevel/msg193999.html v2: https://lore.kernel.org/linux-fsdevel/20210525093034.GB4112@quack2.suse.cz/T/ Link: https://lkml.kernel.org/r/20210528210648.9124-1-junxiao.bi@oracle.com Signed-off-by: Junxiao Bi <junxiao.bi@oracle.com> Reviewed-by: Joseph Qi <joseph.qi@linux.alibaba.com> Cc: Jan Kara <jack@suse.cz> Cc: Mark Fasheh <mark@fasheh.com> Cc: Joel Becker <jlbec@evilplan.org> Cc: Changwei Ge <gechangwei@live.cn> Cc: Gang He <ghe@suse.com> Cc: Jun Piao <piaojun@huawei.com> Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

Fix this by re-arranging the loop to deal with ret == 1 coming from btrfs_search_slot, and then simply delete the ret = 0; out: bit so everybody can break if there is an error, which will allow for proper error handling to occur. The commit referenced below was incomplete: It merely affected what would get written to the vdev-<N> xenstore node. The guest would still find the function at the original function number as long as __xen_pcibk_get_pci_dev() wouldn't be in sync. The same goes for AER wrt __xen_pcibk_get_pcifront_dev(). Undo overriding the function to zero and instead make sure that VFs at function zero remain alone in their slot. This has the added benefit of improving overall capacity, considering that there's only a total of 32 slots available right now (PCI segment and bus can both only ever be zero at present). This is upstream commit 4ba50e7c423c29639878c00573288869aa627068. This reverts commit 0c59367.
sdfat version 2.4.5 introduced wbc_to_write_flags() as a compat function for legacy kernels. Unfortunately, as the legacy __sdfat_submit_bio_write() path was adapted to take advantage of wbc_to_write_flags(), it used the return value direcly as the rw paramater to submit_bio(), and the default return value is 0 (READ). This becomes a problem later when write paths assert that bio_data_dir() is WRITE (i.e., write bit of bio->bi_rw is set). Pass a bitwise-or of WRITE and the return value of wbc_to_write_flags() to submit_bio() on this legacy path. This logically unifies the approach with the newer path here and directly with the legacy path of __sdfat_submit_bio_write2() in mpage.c. …loc() commit d29f59051d3a07b81281b2df2b8c9dfe4716067f upstream. The voice allocator sometimes begins allocating from near the end of the array and then wraps around, however snd_emu10k1_pcm_channel_alloc() accesses the newly allocated voices as if it never wrapped around. This results in out of bounds access if the first voice has a high enough index so that first_voice + requested_voice_count > NUM_G (64). The more voices are requested, the more likely it is for this to occur. This was initially discovered using PipeWire, however it can be reproduced by calling aplay multiple times with 16 channels: aplay -r 48000 -D plughw:CARD=Live,DEV=3 -c 16 /dev/zero UBSAN: array-index-out-of-bounds in sound/pci/emu10k1/emupcm.c:127:40 index 65 is out of range for type 'snd_emu10k1_voice [64]' CPU: 1 PID: 31977 Comm: aplay Tainted: G W IOE 6.0.0-rc2-emu10k1+ #7 Hardware name: ASUSTEK COMPUTER INC P5W DH Deluxe/P5W DH Deluxe, BIOS 3002 07/22/2010 Call Trace: <TASK> dump_stack_lvl+0x49/0x63 dump_stack+0x10/0x16 ubsan_epilogue+0x9/0x3f __ubsan_handle_out_of_bounds.cold+0x44/0x49 snd_emu10k1_playback_hw_params+0x3bc/0x420 [snd_emu10k1] snd_pcm_hw_params+0x29f/0x600 [snd_pcm] snd_pcm_common_ioctl+0x188/0x1410 [snd_pcm] ? exit_to_user_mode_prepare+0x35/0x170 ? do_syscall_64+0x69/0x90 ? syscall_exit_to_user_mode+0x26/0x50 ? do_syscall_64+0x69/0x90 ? exit_to_user_mode_prepare+0x35/0x170 snd_pcm_ioctl+0x27/0x40 [snd_pcm] __x64_sys_ioctl+0x95/0xd0 do_syscall_64+0x5c/0x90 ? do_syscall_64+0x69/0x90 ? do_syscall_64+0x69/0x90 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x63/0xcd Signed-off-by: Tasos Sahanidis <tasos@tasossah.com> Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/3707dcab-320a-62ff-63c0-73fc201ef756@tasossah.com Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

[ Upstream commit b18cba09e374637a0a3759d856a6bca94c133952 ] Commit 9130b8d ("SUNRPC: allow for upcalls for the same uid but different gss service") introduced `auth` argument to __gss_find_upcall(), but in gss_pipe_downcall() it was left as NULL since it (and auth->service) was not (yet) determined. When multiple upcalls with the same uid and different service are ongoing, it could happen that __gss_find_upcall(), which returns the first match found in the pipe->in_downcall list, could not find the correct gss_msg corresponding to the downcall we are looking for. Moreover, it might return a msg which is not sent to rpc.gssd yet. We could see mount.nfs process hung in D state with multiple mount.nfs are executed in parallel. The call trace below is of CentOS 7.9 kernel-3.10.0-1160.24.1.el7.x86_64 but we observed the same hang w/ elrepo kernel-ml-6.0.7-1.el7. PID: 71258 TASK: ffff91ebd4be0000 CPU: 36 COMMAND: "mount.nfs" #0 [ffff9203ca3234f8] __schedule at ffffffffa3b8899f #1 [ffff9203ca323580] schedule at ffffffffa3b88eb9 #2 [ffff9203ca323590] gss_cred_init at ffffffffc0355818 [auth_rpcgss] #3 [ffff9203ca323658] rpcauth_lookup_credcache at ffffffffc0421ebc [sunrpc] #4 [ffff9203ca3236d8] gss_lookup_cred at ffffffffc0353633 [auth_rpcgss] #5 [ffff9203ca3236e8] rpcauth_lookupcred at ffffffffc0421581 [sunrpc] #6 [ffff9203ca323740] rpcauth_refreshcred at ffffffffc04223d3 [sunrpc] #7 [ffff9203ca3237a0] call_refresh at ffffffffc04103dc [sunrpc] #8 [ffff9203ca3237b8] __rpc_execute at ffffffffc041e1c9 [sunrpc] #9 [ffff9203ca323820] rpc_execute at ffffffffc0420a48 [sunrpc] The scenario is like this. Let's say there are two upcalls for services A and B, A -> B in pipe->in_downcall, B -> A in pipe->pipe. When rpc.gssd reads pipe to get the upcall msg corresponding to service B from pipe->pipe and then writes the response, in gss_pipe_downcall the msg corresponding to service A will be picked because only uid is used to find the msg and it is before the one for B in pipe->in_downcall. And the process waiting for the msg corresponding to service A will be woken up. Actual scheduing of that process might be after rpc.gssd processes the next msg. In rpc_pipe_generic_upcall it clears msg->errno (for A). The process is scheduled to see gss_msg->ctx == NULL and gss_msg->msg.errno == 0, therefore it cannot break the loop in gss_create_upcall and is never woken up after that. This patch adds a simple check to ensure that a msg which is not sent to rpc.gssd yet is not chosen as the matching upcall upon receiving a downcall. For this bug, jbd2_journal_restart() is called by ocfs2_split_extent() during defragmenting. How to fix For ocfs2_split_extent() can handle journal operations totally by itself. Caller doesn't need to call journal access/dirty pair, and caller only needs to call journal start/stop pair. The fix method is to remove journal access/dirty from __ocfs2_move_extent(). [ Upstream commit 250870824c1cf199b032b1ef889c8e8d69d9123a ] GCC warns about the pattern sizeof(void*)/sizeof(void), as it looks like the abuse of a pattern to calculate the array size. This pattern appears in the unevaluated part of the ternary operator in _INTC_ARRAY if the parameter is NULL. The replacement uses an alternate approach to return 0 in case of NULL which does not generate the pattern sizeof(void*)/sizeof(void), but still emits the warning if _INTC_ARRAY is called with a nonarray parameter. This patch is required for successful compilation with -Werror enabled. The idea to use _Generic for type distinction is taken from Comment #7 in https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=108483 by Jakub Jelinek Signed-off-by: Michael Karcher <kernel@mkarcher.dialup.fu-berlin.de> Acked-by: Randy Dunlap <rdunlap@infradead.org> # build-tested Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/619fa552-c988-35e5-b1d7-fe256c46a272@mkarcher.dialup.fu-berlin.de Signed-off-by: John Paul Adrian Glaubitz <glaubitz@physik.fu-berlin.de> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Ulrich Hecht <uli+cip@fpond.eu>

It is found that in case of stock->nr_pages == 0, the memcg on stock->cached could be freed due to its refcnt decreased to 0, which made stock->cached become a dangling pointer. It could cause a UAF problem in drain_all_stock() in the following concurrent scenario. Note that drain_all_stock() doesn't disable irq but only preemption. CPU1 CPU2 ============================================================================== stock->cached = memcgA (freed) drain_all_stock(memcgB) rcu_read_lock() memcg = CPU1's stock->cached (memcgA) (interrupted) refill_stock(memcgC) drain_stock(memcgA) stock->cached = memcgC stock->nr_pages += xxx (> 0) stock->nr_pages > 0 mem_cgroup_is_descendant(memcgA, memcgB) [UAF] rcu_read_unlock() This problem is, unintentionally, fixed at 5.9, where commit 1a3e1f4 ("mm: memcontrol: decouple reference counting from page accounting") adds memcg refcnt for stock. Therefore affected LTS versions include 4.19 and 5.4. For 4.19, memcg's css offline process doesn't call drain_all_stock(). so it's easier for the released memcg to be left on the stock. For 5.4, although mem_cgroup_css_offline() does call drain_all_stock(), but the flushing could be skipped when stock->nr_pages happens to be 0, and besides the async draining could be delayed and take place after the UAF problem has happened. Fix this problem by adding (and decreasing) memcg's refcnt when memcg is put onto (and removed from) stock, just like how commit 1a3e1f4 ("mm: memcontrol: decouple reference counting from page accounting") does. After all, "being on the stock" is a kind of reference with regards to memcg. As such, it's guaranteed that a css on stock would not be freed. It's good to mention that refill_stock() is executed in an irq-disabled context, so the drain_stock() patched with css_put() would not actually free memcgA until the end of refill_stock(), since css_put() is an RCU free and it's still in grace period. For CPU2, the access to CPU1's stock->cached is protected by rcu_read_lock(), so in this case it gets either NULL from stock->cached or a memcgA that is still good. [ Upstream commit f8bbc07ac535593139c875ffa19af924b1084540 ] vhost_worker will call tun call backs to receive packets. If too many illegal packets arrives, tun_do_read will keep dumping packet contents. When console is enabled, it will costs much more cpu time to dump packet and soft lockup will be detected. net_ratelimit mechanism can be used to limit the dumping rate.
