Appendix I) Process for Submitting Panorama Requests: Data Updates and New Visualizations

Randy Yee edited this page Aug 24, 2020 · 1 revision

For existing visuals in Panorama, including data issues identified

Country teams and ICPI team members should all submit any data issues to the Panorama Help Desk available on the Pano interface. These get sent directly to a team of developers who prioritize them for fixes. This method is specific for situations where the actual data is incorrect compared to MER/SIMS Structured Datasets and/or the Data Genie, after reading release notes to ensure the discrepancy is not due to a known issue. It can also include places where wording on the page is extremely misleading, so as to lead a user to potentially misinterpret data.

The Panorama Help Desk can be found on the left-hand navigation bar, under the link titled "Support."

How to submit NEW visualization requests or updates to existing visualizations

For country team members, these new visualization requests can also be submitted using the Help Desk. These requests will be sent to the Pano team for regular quarterly prioritization sessions.

For ICPI cluster leads or tool owners, we would like for requests to be submitted via this GitHub repo.

An outline of what should be included is below in each issue.

  • Title: "[Panorama: Name of dashboard(s) impacted or "New Dashboard"] - Brief description of issue or request
  • Assignees: Assign Katie O'Connor and Pooja Vinayak
  • Labels: Subgroup: BI
  • Body of issue should include:
    • Thorough description of the visualization, and include screen shots of a mock-up for the developers.
    • The data elements used in the visualization
    • Calculated indicators that can be pulled out of Fact View that are needed for the visualization
    • Calculations that need to be done anew for the visualization that cannot be pulled directly from Fact View

Data Privacy If a mock-up or existing visual to the tool is needed, please be aware that this is a public repo, and mock-ups should not contain true data to the extent that that is possible. If you would like to provide a mock-up using real data, please put it in Panorama Request sharepoint folder and link to the location in this ticket.

What happens next

  1. DIV-BI lead or Panorama liaison will respond to the ticket to clarify any requirements as needed. 48-hour turnaround
  2. DIV-BI lead or Panorama liaison copies the ticket over to the Panorama developer's GH repo. 48-hour turnaround once requirements are confirmed
  3. Ticket prioritization will proceed first with internal ICPI prioritization followed by Integrated Prioritization between PRIME, SIMS, and ICPI requests. Once per quarter
  4. DIV-BI lead or Panorama liaison will update the "Milestone" of each submitted ticket on DIV GitHub repo indicating whether the request has made the list for the quarterly release in question. One week after prioritization is complete
