Help
If you are running into any issues with TAC Life Support, or Kerbal Space Program is crashing, please read the following:
Also read the [Official] How To Get Support on the forums.
-
The first step is double check that you have installed everything correctly. See the Installation Tutorial, and pay particular attention to Step 5 where it talks about where the files should be located. Do not move anything or rename directories. All files need to be in those exact paths.
-
If you are upgrading from a previous version, you might try completely uninstalling this mod and reinstalling it. Sometimes files from a previous version are not overwritten and could cause problems in a newer version.
-
Make sure that you have the latest version of every mod that you have installed. Sometimes problems have already been found and fixed.
-
Review your log file, which will be named
output_log.txt
on Windows orPlayer.log
on Mac or Linux. The one that I want is created as soon as the game is started, and is continually updated as it runs. The game does not need to crash for it to be created.
To find your log file:
- Windows (32-bit): See {KSP}\KSP_Data\output_log.txt
- Windows (64-bit): See {KSP}\KSP_x64_Data\output_log.txt
- Mac OSX: Open Console, on the left side of the window there is a menu that says 'files'. Scroll down the list and find the Unity drop down, under Unity there will be Player.log. Aka Files>~/Library/Logs>Unity>Player.log
- Linux: See ~/.config/unity3d/Squad/Kerbal Space Program/Player.log
Ignore the entry about "The expected exception is still happening when adding the Life Support part module to the EVA". As it says, the base game is still throwing an exception but I am handling it and nothing bad is happening because of it. I left the log statement in so that I can remove my workaround as soon as Squad fixes the underlying issue in the base game.
You can also view the log while the game is running by pressing Alt+F2 or Alt+F12.
-
Please upload the entire log file somewhere that I can get to it like Dropbox, Pastebin or hastebin. If you pick and choose parts of it, you risk not giving me all of the information that I need to help you.
-
Create a separate install of KSP with only TAC Life Support and Module Manager, or with those two and the other mod that you suspect is causing compatibility issues. See if the problem still happens. Upload the entire log file from there.
