Titles in BFFI

BFFI handles titles somewhat different compared to BIBFRAME. We have only one class, bffi:Title, for all types of titles. The instances of bffi:Title are located in four value vocabularies in the Finnish Metadata Thesaurus. These are listed below.

Titles of Works

• Preferred title of work (a bffi:Title) (mts:m1628 ~ bf:Title)
• Variant title of work (a bffi:Title) (mts:m437 ~ bf:VariantTitle)
• Key title (a bffi:Title only for bffi:SerialWork) (mts:m263 ~ bf:KeyTitle)

Titles of Expressions

Titles of Manifestations

bffi:TitleNote "Note on title"

bffi:TitleNote is a subclass of bffi:Note and the values for it are located in the Metadata Thesaurus at mts:m333 (subject to change). This may be used for any title, usually used for types of variant titles. The corresponding RDA property is rdam:P30063 "has note on title".

bffi:TitleSource "Source of title"

bffi:TitleSource is a subclass of bffi:Source. This source is used only for the "Title proper" of a manifestation.

A value vocabulary for this class will be available in the Metadata Thesaurus as "Note on the source of title proper" (mts:m1685). The values are local RDA-terms.
