GITR can be used as the impurity transport component for WALLDYN. In this case, GITR provides transfer matrices for various surfaces (or surface groupings), which WALLDYN uses to perform the flux balance in the system, including interaction zone erosion, deposition, and material mixing.

This section will provide instructions on how to formulate inputs, execute, and process GITR outputs to provide the inputs for WALLDYN.
NOTE: This workflow does not make use of the GITR surface model. So files for material sputtering and reflection are not needed. Be sure to set flag USESURFACEMODEL=0 in gitrInput.cfg.
- Create either a 2D geometry or 3D geometry input file that represents the system to be modeled. For this case, we are using a 3D cube.
- Generate any 2D or 3D plasma profiles (and fields) to be input to the simulation. For this case, we will only use constants which are specified in the input file and will be discussed in step 4.
- Produce inputs for atomic physics. For this example, Mo will be used
- Configure gitrInput.cfg. We use the input file in the walldyn_cube example which is documented there.
- Build and execute GITR
- Process output to verify simulation and build files for WALLDYN input. What is needed is documented here:
