A couple of machines in the farm show quite frequent errors in the powerwells not being released. Either there is an external agent interferring with the powerwells, or the powerwell doesn't quite behave as we anticipate -- either way, the test is not reliable enough to be enabled by default in CI. It has served its immediate purpose in providing coverage as we made tweaks to forcewake, so keep it available for future testing. Push getting the reference for the encoders' power domains into the encoder get_power_domains() hook instead of doing this from the caller. This way the encoder can store away the corresponding wakerefs. This fixes the DSI encoder disabling, which didn't release these power references it acquired during HW state readout. Note that longtime ownership for the corresponding wakerefs can be thus acquired / released in two ways. Nevertheless there is always only one owner for them: After HW readout (booting/system resume): - encoder->get_power_domains() acquires - encoder->disable*() releases After a modeset (calling intel_atomic_commit()): - encoder->enable*() acquires - encoder->disable*() releases * can be any of the encoder enable/disable hooks. v2: - Check that the DSI io_wakerefs are unset both during encoder HW readout and enabling. Add the bindings for the Bifrost family of ARM Mali GPUs. The Bifrost GPU architecture is similar to the Midgard family, but with a different Shader Core & Execution Engine structures. Bindings are based on the Midgard family bindings, but the inner architectural changes makes it a separate family needing separate bindings. The Bifrost GPUs are present in a number of recent SoCs, like the Amlogic G12A Family, and many other vendors. This is essentially a revert of the commit a7588c8 ("ALSA: timer: Check ack_list emptiness instead of bit flag"). The intended change by the commit turns out to be insufficient, as snd_timer_close*() always calls snd_timer_stop() that deletes the ack_list beforehand. In theory, we can change the behavior of snd_timer_stop() to sync the pending ack_list, but this will become a deadlock for the callback like sequencer that calls again snd_timer_stop() from itself. So, reverting the change is a more straightforward solution. When the tdm lane mask is computed, the driver currently fills the 1st lane before moving on to the next. If the stream has less channels than the lanes can accommodate, slots will be disabled on the last lanes. Unfortunately, the HW distribute channels in a different way. It distribute channels in pair on each lanes before moving on the next slots. This difference leads to problems if a device has an interface with more than 1 lane and with more than 2 slots per lane. For example: a playback interface with 2 lanes and 4 slots each (total 8 slots - zero based numbering) - Playing a 8ch stream: - All slots activated by the driver - channel #2 will be played on lane #1 - slot #0 following HW placement - Playing a 4ch stream: - Lane #1 disabled by the driver - channel #2 will be played on lane #0 - slot #2 This behaviour is obviously not desirable. Change the way slots are activated on the TDM lanes to follow what the HW does and make sure each channel always get mapped to the same slot/lane. [ Upstream commit 8d21155 ] adjust_inuse_and_calc_cost() use spin_lock_irq() and IRQ will be enabled when unlock. DEADLOCK might happen if we have held other locks and disabled IRQ before invoking it. [ Upstream commit ce3aee7 ] syzkaller reported use-after-free in __gtp_encap_destroy(). [0] It shows the same process freed sk and touched it illegally. Commit e198987 ("gtp: fix suspicious RCU usage") added lock_sock() and release_sock() in __gtp_encap_destroy() to protect sk->sk_user_data, but release_sock() is called after sock_put() releases the last refcnt. [ Upstream commit 6f67fbf ] The `shift` variable which indicates the offset in the string at which to start matching the pattern is initialized to `bm->patlen - 1`, but it is not reset when a new block is retrieved. This means the implemen- tation may start looking at later and later positions in each successive block and miss occurrences of the pattern at the beginning. E.g., consider a HTTP packet held in a non-linear skb, where the HTTP request line occurs in the second block: [... 52 bytes of packet headers ...] GET /bmtest HTTP/1.1\r\nHost: www.example.com\r\n\r\n and the pattern is "GET /bmtest". Once the first block comprising the packet headers has been examined, `shift` will be pointing to somewhere near the end of the block, and so when the second block is examined the request line at the beginning will be missed. Reinitialize the variable for each new block. [ Upstream commit b684c09 ] ppc_save_regs() skips one stack frame while saving the CPU register states. Instead of saving current R1, it pulls the previous stack frame pointer. When vmcores caused by direct panic call (such as `echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger`), are debugged with gdb, gdb fails to show the backtrace correctly. On further analysis, it was found that it was because of mismatch between r1 and NIP. GDB uses NIP to get current function symbol and uses corresponding debug info of that function to unwind previous frames, but due to the mismatching r1 and NIP, the unwinding does not work, and it fails to unwind to the 2nd frame and hence does not show the backtrace. GDB backtrace with vmcore of kernel without this patch: --------- (gdb) bt #0 0xc0000000002a53e8 in crash_setup_regs (oldregs=<optimized out>, newregs=0xc000000004f8f8d8) at ./arch/powerpc/include/asm/kexec.h:69 #1 __crash_kexec (regs=<optimized out>) at kernel/kexec_core.c:974 OpenDingux#2 0x0000000000000063 in ?? () OpenDingux#3 0xc000000003579320 in ?? () --------- Further analysis revealed that the mismatch occurred because "ppc_save_regs" was saving the previous stack's SP instead of the current r1. This patch fixes this by storing current r1 in the saved pt_regs. [ Upstream commit 2fb48d8 ] When a device-mapper device is passing through the inline encryption support of an underlying device, calls to blk_crypto_evict_key() take the blk_crypto_profile::lock of the device-mapper device, then take the blk_crypto_profile::lock of the underlying device (nested). This isn't a real deadlock, but it causes a lockdep report because there is only one lock class for all instances of this lock. Lockdep subclasses don't really work here because the hierarchy of block devices is dynamic and could have more than 2 levels. Instead, register a dynamic lock class for each blk_crypto_profile, and associate that with the lock. This avoids false-positive lockdep reports like the following: ============================================ WARNING: possible recursive locking detected 6.4.0-rc5 OpenDingux#2 Not tainted -------------------------------------------- fscryptctl/1421 is trying to acquire lock: ffffff80829ca418 (&profile->lock){++++}-{3:3}, at: __blk_crypto_evict_key+0x44/0x1c0 but task is already holding lock: ffffff8086b68ca8 (&profile->lock){++++}-{3:3}, at: __blk_crypto_evict_key+0xc8/0x1c0 other info that might help us debug this: Possible unsafe locking scenario: CPU0 ---- lock(&profile->lock); lock(&profile->lock); *** DEADLOCK *** May be due to missing lock nesting notation Fixes: 1b26283 ("block: Keyslot Manager for Inline Encryption") Reported-by: Bart Van Assche <bvanassche@acm.org> Signed-off-by: Eric Biggers <ebiggers@google.com> Reviewed-by: Bart Van Assche <bvanassche@acm.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230610061139.212085-1-ebiggers@kernel.org Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <axboe@kernel.dk> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>

The direct reason is that a object is allocated and freed by bpf_mem_caches with different unit_size. The root cause is that KMALLOC_MIN_SIZE is 64 and there is no 96-bytes slab cache in the specific VM. When linked_list test allocates a 72-bytes object through bpf_obj_new(), bpf_global_ma will allocate it from a bpf_mem_cache with 96-bytes unit_size, but this bpf_mem_cache is backed by 128-bytes slab cache. When the object is freed, bpf_mem_free() uses ksize() to choose the corresponding bpf_mem_cache. Because the object is allocated from 128-bytes slab cache, ksize() returns 128, bpf_mem_free() chooses a 128-bytes bpf_mem_cache to free the object and triggers the warning. A similar warning will also be reported when using CONFIG_SLAB instead of CONFIG_SLUB in a x86-64 kernel. Because CONFIG_SLUB defines KMALLOC_MIN_SIZE as 8 but CONFIG_SLAB defines KMALLOC_MIN_SIZE as 32. An alternative fix is to use kmalloc_size_round() in bpf_mem_alloc() to choose a bpf_mem_cache which has the same unit_size with the backing slab cache, but it may introduce performance degradation, so fix the warning by adjusting the indexes in size_index according to the value of KMALLOC_MIN_SIZE just like setup_kmalloc_cache_index_table() does. Hou Tao says: ==================== Fix the unmatched unit_size of bpf_mem_cache From: Hou Tao <houtao1@huawei.com> Hi, The patchset aims to fix the reported warning [0] when the unit_size of bpf_mem_cache is mismatched with the object size of underly slab-cache. Patch #1 fixes the warning by adjusting size_index according to the value of KMALLOC_MIN_SIZE, so bpf_mem_cache with unit_size which is smaller than KMALLOC_MIN_SIZE or is not aligned with KMALLOC_MIN_SIZE will be redirected to bpf_mem_cache with bigger unit_size. Patch #2 doesn't do prefill for these redirected bpf_mem_cache to save memory. Patch #3 adds further error check in bpf_mem_alloc_init() to ensure the unit_size and object_size are always matched and to prevent potential issues due to the mismatch. Please see individual patches for more details. And comments are always welcome. Fix the deadlock by refactoring the MR cache cleanup flow to flush the workqueue without holding the rb_lock. This adds a race between cache cleanup and creation of new entries which we solve by denied creation of new entries after cache cleanup started. Specific stress involving frequent CPU-hotplug operations, such as running rcutorture for example, may trigger the following message: NOHZ tick-stop error: local softirq work is pending, handler #2!!!" This happens in the CPU-down hotplug process, after CPUHP_AP_SMPBOOT_THREADS whose teardown callback parks ksoftirqd, and before the target CPU shuts down through CPUHP_AP_IDLE_DEAD. In this fragile intermediate state, softirqs waiting for threaded handling may be forever ignored and eventually reported by the idle task as in the above example. However some vectors are known to be safe as long as the corresponding subsystems have teardown callbacks handling the migration of their events. The above error message reports pending timers softirq although this vector can be considered as hotplug safe because the CPUHP_TIMERS_PREPARE teardown callback performs the necessary migration of timers after the death of the CPU. Hrtimers also have a similar hotplug handling. Therefore this error message, as far as (hr-)timers are concerned, can be considered spurious and the relevant softirq vectors can be marked as hotplug safe. Calling led_trigger_register() when attaching a PHY located on an SFP module potentially (and practically) leads into a deadlock. Fix this by not calling led_trigger_register() for PHYs localted on SFP modules as such modules actually never got any LEDs. ====================================================== WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected 6.7.0-rc4-next-20231208+ #0 Tainted: G O ------------------------------------------------------ kworker/u8:2/43 is trying to acquire lock: ffffffc08108c4e8 (triggers_list_lock){++++}-{3:3}, at: led_trigger_register+0x4c/0x1a8 but task is already holding lock: ffffff80c5c6f318 (&sfp->sm_mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: cleanup_module+0x2ba8/0x3120 [sfp] which lock already depends on the new lock. the existing dependency chain (in reverse order) is: -> OpenDingux#3 (&sfp->sm_mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}: __mutex_lock+0x88/0x7a0 mutex_lock_nested+0x20/0x28 cleanup_module+0x2ae0/0x3120 [sfp] sfp_register_bus+0x5c/0x9c sfp_register_socket+0x48/0xd4 cleanup_module+0x271c/0x3120 [sfp] platform_probe+0x64/0xb8 really_probe+0x17c/0x3c0 __driver_probe_device+0x78/0x164 driver_probe_device+0x3c/0xd4 __driver_attach+0xec/0x1f0 bus_for_each_dev+0x60/0xa0 driver_attach+0x20/0x28 bus_add_driver+0x108/0x208 driver_register+0x5c/0x118 __platform_driver_register+0x24/0x2c init_module+0x28/0xa7c [sfp] do_one_initcall+0x70/0x2ec do_init_module+0x54/0x1e4 load_module+0x1b78/0x1c8c __do_sys_init_module+0x1bc/0x2cc __arm64_sys_init_module+0x18/0x20 invoke_syscall.constprop.0+0x4c/0xdc do_el0_svc+0x3c/0xbc el0_svc+0x34/0x80 el0t_64_sync_handler+0xf8/0x124 el0t_64_sync+0x150/0x154 -> OpenDingux#2 (rtnl_mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}: __mutex_lock+0x88/0x7a0 mutex_lock_nested+0x20/0x28 rtnl_lock+0x18/0x20 set_device_name+0x30/0x130 netdev_trig_activate+0x13c/0x1ac led_trigger_set+0x118/0x234 led_trigger_write+0x104/0x17c sysfs_kf_bin_write+0x64/0x80 kernfs_fop_write_iter+0x128/0x1b4 vfs_write+0x178/0x2a4 ksys_write+0x58/0xd4 __arm64_sys_write+0x18/0x20 invoke_syscall.constprop.0+0x4c/0xdc do_el0_svc+0x3c/0xbc el0_svc+0x34/0x80 el0t_64_sync_handler+0xf8/0x124 el0t_64_sync+0x150/0x154 -> OpenDingux#1 (&led_cdev->trigger_lock){++++}-{3:3}: down_write+0x4c/0x13c led_trigger_write+0xf8/0x17c sysfs_kf_bin_write+0x64/0x80 kernfs_fop_write_iter+0x128/0x1b4 vfs_write+0x178/0x2a4 ksys_write+0x58/0xd4 __arm64_sys_write+0x18/0x20 invoke_syscall.constprop.0+0x4c/0xdc do_el0_svc+0x3c/0xbc el0_svc+0x34/0x80 el0t_64_sync_handler+0xf8/0x124 el0t_64_sync+0x150/0x154 -> #0 (triggers_list_lock){++++}-{3:3}: __lock_acquire+0x12a0/0x2014 lock_acquire+0x100/0x2ac down_write+0x4c/0x13c led_trigger_register+0x4c/0x1a8 phy_led_triggers_register+0x9c/0x214 phy_attach_direct+0x154/0x36c phylink_attach_phy+0x30/0x60 phylink_sfp_connect_phy+0x140/0x510 sfp_add_phy+0x34/0x50 init_module+0x15c/0xa7c [sfp] cleanup_module+0x1d94/0x3120 [sfp] cleanup_module+0x2bb4/0x3120 [sfp] process_one_work+0x1f8/0x4ec worker_thread+0x1e8/0x3d8 kthread+0x104/0x110 ret_from_fork+0x10/0x20 other info that might help us debug this: Chain exists of: triggers_list_lock --> rtnl_mutex --> &sfp->sm_mutex Possible unsafe locking scenario: CPU0 CPU1 ---- ---- lock(&sfp->sm_mutex); lock(rtnl_mutex); lock(&sfp->sm_mutex); lock(triggers_list_lock); *** DEADLOCK *** 4 locks held by kworker/u8:2/43: #0: ffffff80c000f938 ((wq_completion)events_power_efficient){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: process_one_work+0x150/0x4ec OpenDingux#1: ffffffc08214bde8 ((work_completion)(&(&sfp->timeout)->work)){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: process_one_work+0x150/0x4ec OpenDingux#2: ffffffc0810902f8 (rtnl_mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: rtnl_lock+0x18/0x20 OpenDingux#3: ffffff80c5c6f318 (&sfp->sm_mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: cleanup_module+0x2ba8/0x3120 [sfp] stack backtrace: CPU: 0 PID: 43 Comm: kworker/u8:2 Tainted: G O 6.7.0-rc4-next-20231208+ #0 Hardware name: Bananapi BPI-R4 (DT) Workqueue: events_power_efficient cleanup_module [sfp] Call trace: dump_backtrace+0xa8/0x10c show_stack+0x14/0x1c dump_stack_lvl+0x5c/0xa0 dump_stack+0x14/0x1c print_circular_bug+0x328/0x430 check_noncircular+0x124/0x134 __lock_acquire+0x12a0/0x2014 lock_acquire+0x100/0x2ac down_write+0x4c/0x13c led_trigger_register+0x4c/0x1a8 phy_led_triggers_register+0x9c/0x214 phy_attach_direct+0x154/0x36c phylink_attach_phy+0x30/0x60 phylink_sfp_connect_phy+0x140/0x510 sfp_add_phy+0x34/0x50 init_module+0x15c/0xa7c [sfp] cleanup_module+0x1d94/0x3120 [sfp] cleanup_module+0x2bb4/0x3120 [sfp] process_one_work+0x1f8/0x4ec worker_thread+0x1e8/0x3d8 kthread+0x104/0x110 ret_from_fork+0x10/0x20 Signed-off-by: Daniel Golle <daniel@makrotopia.org> Fixes: 01e5b72 ("net: phy: Add a binding for PHY LEDs") Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/102a9dce38bdf00215735d04cd4704458273ad9c.1702339354.git.daniel@makrotopia.org Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>

Whenever a wake up source configures an IRQ through irq_set_irq_wake, it will lock the corresponding IRQ desc, and then call irq_set_irq_wake on "parent" IRQ which will do the same on its own IRQ desc, but since those two locks share the same class, lockdep reports this as an issue. I forked your OpenDingux/linux repo and rebased these commits on your jz-5.1-retromini branch. Please consider this branch the most up-to-date location for now:
https://github.com/senquack/linux-1/commits/for-upstream-hugetlb-sq
I revised things a bit since we last spoke.. now huge pages are disallowed not only for EVA,XPA addressing, but also when proprietary Alchemy/Netlogic CPU extended addressing is in use.
I've left it up to you to decide to modify your arch/mips/config/ defconfig(s) to contain one or both of these options:
CONFIG_HUGETLBFS=y
CONFIG_TRANSPARENT_HUGEPAGE=y
I am working on libhugetlbfs right now, not sure how soon I'll be done though :(
