Commissions

Overview

I offer two types of commissions: public and private. Public commissions will be offered at my discretion, otherwise all commissions will be private.

Public Commission

A public commission means that the cog may be released on my public repository for other people to download. Depending on the request I may offer this an option.

Advantages:

  • lower price
  • continuous updates for free
  • Credited on my github

Cons:

  • Anyone can download this cog or use this feature.

Private Commission

A private commission means that the cog/feature is only released to you. You are not authorized to sell or distribute my source. I must be credited as the author of the original source.

Advantages:

  • The feature will be unique to your bot

Disadvantages:

Things I will not do:

  • I will not create anything malicious.
  • I have no interest in changing another cog creator's work. Contact them if you want something altered.
  • Work on something that alter's red's core files.

What I will do

  • Add a feature to one of my existing cogs
Needs to match the spirit of the cog's intent

  • Create a new cog

  • Conversions from other bots
Requires you to notify the original creator for permission*

Process

Step 1

I need as many details as possible about your idea. The more information you provide the faster you will get the final product in your hands. Often times, when someone is less specific, they will request multiple changes during the development processes and this will slow things down dramatically.

For a complete cog I will need a list of all the commands you want, along with the input and output of each command.

Step 2

If I accept the proposal (based on other commissions or real life issues) I will give you my cost for completion. I will ask that you send 50% of the total cost at a minimum. This serves as a non-refundable deposit that ensures I am not working on something for nothing. I will begin development right away once I receive the payment.

Step 3

You will receive a status update each day on the progress. I will invite you to several test sessions throughout this step to ensure my design matches your intent. It is important to not rush me during this time.

Step 4

When you and I feel like the cog has met the requirements I will ask for the remaining payment.
Once payment is received I will release the cog based on the agree type of commission.

Limited Service Warranty

If Red Bot releases an update that causes a breaking change in your cog, you may request for a free patch to fix the issue. If you have heavily modified my original work I may or may not be able to fulfill this request.

Timeline

Depending on the size and scope of your commission it will require a lot of time. Be patient, I'll be working as fast as I can.
