I am commenting as I have become more interested in designing a number of additional characters along with reformatting my document... I understand the format may be hard to read and I just wanted to comment that I was working to design as many concepts as I could... I do not know enough about stat basics and skill effective levels to state direct numbers that would be used for the character skills and development... In this I wanted to present a number of my initial attempts to design interesting character models... Christian |

hi i noticed you use a lot of words and use a lot of dot dot dot ... is this used for something? it's been very difficult to read, so i didn't read everything. e.g. when you mention AOE is this linear, circle, cone shaped? or maybe spill like TA? unit or point target? and maybe use less repetitive words: This character..This blessing, to provide then repeated the word providing, the something and the etc? naming skills aggression, strength, crush and rights sounds very plain/vague and the effect is similar to existing skills like wild axes. maybe consider existing heroes like beastmaster and draw similarities but still make it unique skills to a barbarian: e.g. from beastmaster wild hunt, wild axes, call of wild, primal roar to barbarian synonyms and use similar theme like savage instinct, savage brutality, seismic crush, primal rights or something? defense buffs sounds like a bit of everything like armor, magic resist, so why not just call it dmg reduction like ursa ult? seems a bit unbalanced if ursa ult / both armor + magic resist becomes like normal skill though. is there no sort order to stats or heroes? sometimes you typed CD, Cost then on other character Cost, area, range CD e.g. in complexifier. I also think should avoid names that make it seems promoting/glamorizing/trivializing illegal substance abuse / illegal activities or harm like opium expert. e.g. maybe Dionysus (greek god of wine)? / Mana expert? and again seems very unbalanced and similar to existing skills e.g. barrier vitalities is this mana shield? e.g. even 1 dmg per missing mana would deal like 500 dmg thats like 2 rapier / am ult? for damage numbers I think just start with reasonable numbers e.g. most spells start from 75/150/225/300 or duration 6 CD 6. maybe high dmg lv 1 spells would be 200 like techie, or even dmg over time like jug spin 330 dmg over 5 sec, but usually have longer CD e.g. 42/34/26/18 or higher cost like jakiro CD:10 COST: 170 lastly i think you should follow existing styles in dota for skill descriptions / tooltips so you dont miss specific stats and add facets / innate ability e.g. ATTACK TYPE: and TAGS. and usually ends with CD, COST, CAST RANGE. e.g. use demo hero to read similar skills like ogre magi multicast / muerta and copy layout / description? e.g. terrorblade shard is no target self only or bat rider / DP for aoe skill. i would add the numbering last until you run out of ideas and make a separate list, so it's easier to switch attributes around / brainstorm / add character notes maybe? since maybe you missed hero 2). and using ctrl F search "2)" would yield many results since you use 2) for skills as well. e.g. TOTAL 63 characters agi (1) int (2) universal hybrid Deft Ranger SKILL 1: Absolute focus SKILL 3: Synderan Resolve some heroes hv skill 4/5. This would be very good for me to change to this format.
I will put some work in adding more and reformatting. I didn’t want to add
numbers since I wasn’t 100% sure of how to make the concept balanced in the
present game. I wanted to write concepts for characters where the skills
and development were fairly understandable but I do not know how to add
numbers to the development to make them balanced in the present game.
I was trying to type character ideas for mechanical concept where numbers
could be added and lore.
When I get back to doing more characters for Dota 2 I will definitely use
your formatting it is very organized. When I have time I will try to add
these features you recommend and format.
I’m wondering if you were able to understand the mechanics and development
for any of the characters?
I really appreciate the detailed message. I will put some work in at some
point and add some more characters with your format for my own mechanical
developments.
I would definitely understand if details were altered, or even skills, the
titles or skill names. I was honestly hoping that the general mechanics and
development would be interesting but have heard a lot about formatting
being leas than ideal.

Grouping character designs based on attributes / deities / folklores might

Perseus / Athena and other relatable characters? Perseus is zeus son.

Quick overview of this document... This document contain 63 character design scripts which cover skills, development, passive options, shard benefit, and Aghanim's Scepter benefit... The document is fairly long as each character takes a certain amount of text... Some of the more complicated characters are towards the end... I hope you find something interesting... I am capable of writing many more in reasonable short durations and can target various roles or class types as needed... Thank you all for your consideration!
I am currently a student at Liberty University finishing my Bachelor's in Character Design and Game Development... I only have my internship left... While searching for an unpaid position to fulfill my course requirement, I scripted a number of character concepts for a variety of games including Dota 2... My hope was to present my characters as base models that can be modified with no strings... Below are 63 new character concepts I wrote for Dota 2... I would like to note that many of the characters are written to be quite strong... I will comment that I did not include skill numbers just the mechanical concepts to be balanced by game developers based on current meta to provide balance to new characters in comparison to others in the game presently...

I wanted to also comment, when scripting these characters I was having fun writing what ever I wanted... I am noting this as I have the ability to target specific roles, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or support, attack carry, magic carry... I can write to fill any specific role using my ability to provide interesting new ideas and mechanics...

The skill deals no damage and scales in effect and projectile count per allocation. This skill has a very short CD. Cost, CD, Projectile, Range. 2) Dash” – This is a low CD mobility skill that allows the player to dash across a short distance. CD, Range. 3) Evolution” – This skill is a transform skill which turns the player into a shade spirit for a duration. The shade gains access to a new skill set and auto-casts Infusions of Intellect” every # duration at no cost. Infusions of Intellect” can be activated to reduce CD of all other skills, # reduction. When activated the skill will no longer auto-cast and will refresh the passive active quickly while activation will remain on CD for a duration. The other skills gained are, Realm Shaper”, which teleports the player globally behind a target stunning for a short duration. This skill has a longer CD which can be reduced by various methods. CD, Global. This form gains scaling from intelligence and automatically converts all other stats to intelligence for the duration. Intelligence no longer provides mana regen while in this form but instead reduces the rate at which life is consumed over time. All mana regen for the character is converted to reduced decay. The second skill is called Shroud Burst”, which tags nearby hostiles with a debuff increasing damage taken and having a second cast option to create an AOE magic burst in the targeted location or a second option to create a small frontal AOE strike with raised critical multiplier. The first secondary option has improved effect of debuffs on hostiles for the hit and applies a slow debuff which consumes other debuffs on the hostile to scale the effects. The second secondary option is a small frontal AOE which has raised critical multiplier and deals high scaling damage. If the initial cast of Shroud Burst” is triggered with a certain # of low hostiles in range it can hit multiple times creating stacking effects from the debuff. The third skill offered while transformed is called Hostility”, which is an aura skill which improves the defenses of player and nearby allies providing # armor, % magic resistance. While the skill is in its aura form, passive, prior to casting, the ability gains charges based on # of skill casts from the player and nearby hostiles and also gains charges per # duration. Each charge increases the critical multiplier by a % and increases the damage by a %. Max stacks #. The skill can be cast consuming all charges and removing the aura for a duration. When the skill is cast it will teleport the play to the target hostile and perform a burst of magic damage which scales from attack growth. Each skill has its own CD which can be reduced through a number of forms. While in this form skills have no cost. 4) Defamation” – This skill provides three different stances. The first stance, called Mankind”, provides an aura of which is based on the players dexterity which first converts intelligence and strength to dexterity and provides a speed buff to allies in the AOE. While the aura is activated, having a passive effect and activation, the aura alters Evolution” to allow for CDR based on recent hits, %/hit, while also providing a defensive aura to self and allies increasing armor, #, and magic resist, %. The second stance is called Magi” which leaves Infusions of Intellect” while modifying the effect to slow on hit, stacking with max, and dealing damage based on intelligence. The second skill is changed from Dash” to Phasing Technology” which provides a short CD evade for spells and hits. This skill is passive but can be activated to provide armor, #, and block to magic damage, for a duration. While activated intelligence gains are at greater efficiency, % more. The third skill is called Frequency Mage”, this skill provides a triggering effect which summons a magic lightning bolt at hostiles, targeting low life heroes first, which deals damage based on intelligence. This skill is passive and triggering effects can be increased through attack speed and CDR. The fourth skill is called Sorcerer”. This skill is a combo skill. The first cast is a dashing ability which moves the player a short distance and duplicates all recent Infusions of Intellect” casts with no cost triggering Frequency Mage” according to the cast count. The second cast is called Power” which is an AOE magic type which targets a mid-size AOE at range and deals magic damage with a short stun restoring mana from each hostile hit and stacking a charge buff called Reserve” for each hostile hit. The third skill in the combo is called Razor”, this skill consumes all Reserve” charges and sends a high speed burst of Infusions of Intellect” based on the Reserve” charges and detonating a frontal AOE line burst of lightning magic damage with increased critical chance based on recent, # duration, hits with Infusions of Intellect”. Casting Infusions of Intellect” during the combo will reset the skill removing any CD for a mana cost, #.
