It's challenging the 2px border radius a bit, but it's an important detail to get right nevertheless, so I would lean towards this being okay. I left a comment around variables.
The other thing we could do would be to apply an overflow: hidden;
to the document title, but I wonder what that would do to tooltips 🤔
Tentatively giving this a green light, but would love a confidence boost.

Interesting, I could swear that box was 2px.
Since we're also using this border radius for modal dialogs (.components-modal__frame
), should we make it a canonized variable like we have one for $radius-block-ui, and apply across both? Or is there a better system for handling the 3 radiuses we use at the moment (2, 4, 8)?

Yes a little down the road I think we should consider this. Probably part of the upcoming component theming work.

I considered that but it creates a pseudo 4px radius on one side of the button, and 2px on the other, which looks unbalanced. I tried making the 2px side 0, but on reflection felt the 4px equal radius worked a bit better. It's true – updating the radius of the containing element to be 2px would also fix the issue. But I slightly prefer the 4px radius because it visually connects the button to the command palette itself (which also has 4px radius). |
Do we need the hover effect to be applied to "Back"? Seems the whole component could darken when hovered, but when hovering over "Back" that button text darkens (disregarding button radii entirely). Is this how it worked previously? |
Probably not.
That's essentially how it is working in #53224. We can probably remove the hover style there. |
I just cherry-picked this PR to the update/bugfixes-6-3-1 branch to get it included in the next release: cede1a7 |

What?
Update the radius of buttons in the document title so they match the container.
Why?
Currently the buttons have a different border radius to the container which looks a bit strange.
