Didn't know that we also have to maintainn backward compatibility for SCSS files. But restoring the variable is trivial, so let's do it.

What?
From what I understand, SCSS variables that are no longer used in the Gutenberg project need to be maintained. Otherwise, they could cause build errors in other projects that import the
@wordpress/base-styles
package and depend on them.For example, the following variables are maintained:
gutenberg/packages/base-styles/_variables.scss
Lines 115 to 119 in 8457cb8
gutenberg/packages/base-styles/_colors.native.scss
Lines 115 to 120 in 8457cb8
