Mark this repository as unmaintained #78
Comments
Add in a notice about the upcoming lack of intended maintenance on this repository. Sadly we haven't got the people to maintain this repository and we'd like to make it clear to visitors to this repository about it's state. This process of marking it unmaintained only affects future updates. The Action will still continue work as it is in old workflows. Closes #78 Once this lands, we'll also Archive this repository. If you've got good recommendations for replacements, please let me know, we'll add them into the README.
@andymckay Could you suggest some? |
Also sad to see this go. Is not this an official GitHub validated Action? |
According with: actions/upload-release-asset#78 This actions is now marked as not maintained. Let's pick the code from it as basis, and then modify for our needs. The only change from the original script was to change the script names. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+huawei@kernel.org>
@hross I guess you are the maintainer here. Please can you add some other maintainers. Maybe the last 5 guys who contribute already ? Sadly this is the current/future state of most github repos: The maintainer looses interest and the project dies slowly. |
@andymckay I think you should at least merge #79 ASAP because I personally wasted time trying to use this and I see other people have as well. The PR covers the necessary bases and I ended up using softprops/action-gh-release as you suggest. It's probably much better to merge it even if you don't archive immediately because there needs to be some indication to people who end up here that they shouldn't use this. |
Sadly we haven't got the time to maintain this repository as an official GitHub Action. In the last year or two since we originally published this, a large number of really good community Actions have appeared on the Marketplace for doing this.
We'd like to mark this repository as unmaintained and make it clear to users what their expectations should be.
People are of course free to fork this repository and maintain those forks if they like.
