Release 1.411.26 Overview

On December 10, 2018, we released Cloudstack-UI 1.411.26. In this iteration, the team implemented Virtual Machine groups management by standard CloudStack means. We also enhanced Virtual Machine details sidebar and snapshots. For the Log View UI-plugin, we made the “Follow logs” option configurable via the configuration file. Below you can find the detailed description for these enhancements and fixes.

Log View plugin enhancements

The configuration of Log View plugin in a real-time mode via the configuration file. In the current release main enhancements of the Log View UI-plugin are made for viewing logs in a real-time mode. Now users can configure the frequency of sending log requests to the log storage and the period for which the latest logs are retrieved in each request. A user can define the parameters in the configuration file as it is described in the configuration guide.

Adding the parameters to the configuration file allows a user to manage traffic when getting the latest logs.

Saving defined filtering parameters to user tags. We made the interface for viewing logs more user-friendly and implemented saving of defined filtering parameters to user tags. That means a user can log out of the system and then login back and continue viewing logs with the same set filtering parameters.

Virtual Machine Snapshots details

Working at the release the team proceeded with developing Virtual Machine snapshots subsection and added a details sidebar. For each snapshot, in the details sidebar, a user can see a name and other general details, description, the name of a machine the snapshot belongs to that is clickable and shows the VM details.

The details sidebar allows users to get quick access to the snapshot complete information. Snapshot details also display in the Virtual Machine details sidebar.

Virtual Machine details sidebar enhancements

In this release, we extended the Virtual Machine details sidebar with additional information and added a virtual machine ID to display in a general information section. That makes it easier for a user to get it when necessary.

Virtual Machine Group management

In the new product version, we implemented the Virtual Machine grouping by standard CloudStack means avoiding using tags.
Now a group assigned to a machine is saved to the group attribute of the machine, not tags. When a machine is not assigned to a group, Default group is shown for it.

The list of machines still can be filtered and grouped by groups. A user can change the group for a machine or create a new group, remove the VM from the group.

Bug fixes

During the iteration out team fixed interface bugs that improved the following interface components:

  • Virtual Machine creation form;
  • Resource usage panel;
  • View Logs;
  • Security Group selection when creating a machine;
  • Details Sidebar.
