Addendums to C3 C3X Flashing

Much of this content was targeted at an older version of flash.comma.ai which used fastboot. The new flash.comma.ai does not. Be aware of this and please feel free to edit the wiki and rip and replace outdated sections.

This document has been mostly deleted to restart it from the new "EDL"-based https://flash.comma.ai installer

This is a document of addendums to https://flash.comma.ai, which are tools to reflash C3s and C3Xs that have weird issues or can't start the screen.

If you can, try to get these tips into https://github.com/commaai/flash/pulls . If they're not accepted, feel free to leave the tips/notices here.

• Windows has been having serious problems. Try booting and flashing from Ubuntu.
• Some people have needed to install Ubuntu to get things working.
• Try flashing from Android
• https://github.com/commaai/agnos-builder/blob/master/flash_all.sh is an Ubuntu-based environment alternative to the browser-based https://flash.comma.ai flasher.

Note

It would be very good if someone validated and wrote down instructions that work for an Ubuntu-based LiveUSB environment flash from a PC with only 8GB of RAM. While https://flash.comma.ai is convenient, it has had mysterious failures.
