Maybe a small bar at the top for dragging would make sense in the full media view. Apple also uses a bar in the Photos app, the Preview app and in Preview itself. It could be slightly transparent and show the date of the media file in the middle.
Another possibility would be a bar that only appears when the mouse pointer is over it.
This way the whole window could be used for the media file and the design would appear more uniform.
But I can't judge the effort involved.
