Reduce Collective Size of Team Page Images to 1MB #215
Comments
@SimonLab thanks for raising this issue... 👍 |
Thanks @Shouston3 I guess @markwilliamfirth you're next on the line. I'm sure this 555kb can be reduced. Otherwise I'm sure there is also a way to compress the images in bulk |
@mantagen @hdrdavies Can you remember what you used to compress the original images? |
@iteles
Export in photoshop (or imagemagick) to the right resolution (experiment
with quality settings)
Then use It's the best compression I've found. Then use jpegmini.

@SimonLab now that Sam reduced his, what size limit should we be aiming for? |
@markwilliamfirth Are we updating the team page images with the ones that you took for dwyl-summer? @mantagen and @hdrdavies Did a great job of getting the photos to under 100kb each (pretty much) as @mantagen described above! |
@iteles this isn't in the sprint 1 planning, but please make another issue for this if you'd like it done sooner! |
@markwilliamfirth if the page doesn't go too much over 1Mb I think it's a good start. We can then see how to optimise this later on. You can check the developer tool to see all the files size, see #215 (comment) |
Currently 2,443,572 bytes (2.5 MB on disk) |
@iteles how about using a single sprite sheet for all the images? |
http://www.dwyl.io/team 42 requests and 4MB to load, it's still a bit too big I think, @Shouston3 you're too heavy
