qmail-newu - prepare address assignments for qmail-lspawn
qmail-newu [ directory ]
qmail-newu reads the assignments in directory/assign and writes them into directory/cdb in a binary format suited for quick access by qmail-lspawn. If directory is omitted qmail-newu uses /etc/indimail/users. Extra arguments provided after directory are silently ignored.
If there is a problem with directory/assign, qmail-newu complains and leaves directory/cdb alone.
qmail-newu ensures that directory/cdb is updated atomically, so qmail-lspawn never has to wait for qmail-newu to finish. However, qmail-newu makes no attempt to protect against two simultaneous updates of directory/cdb.
The binary directory/cdb format is portable across machines.
