Using emplacements

Marines can use the emplacements that are included in the mod. Allowing them to do way more damage to their enemies than they otherwise could with their own handheld weapons. Turning off emplacement usage can be done by settings User_TurretDelay to -1, or using an Action restrictor.

When they use emplacements

When in combat. Marines will use the closest emplacement they find in a radius of 768 map units if it meets the following conditions:

  • They haven't already used an emplacement in the past number of tics defined by User_TurretDelay.
  • The emplacement isn't currently in use by someone, nor is usage of it by NPCs restricted.
  • This is relevant for emplacements added by other KAI mods. But they will not try using emplacements for which there is no morph of them on the emplacement.
  • There is no other marine in the vicinity that is already heading towards the same emplacement.
  • If the marine isn't invincible, they will not enter emplacements that are too dangerous to use currently (There is a dangerous hazard zone near them, or too many dangerous projectiles are heading towards the turret). If the marine IS invincible, they will not be bothered by the
  • The emplacement can actually be walked up to.

While idle

Marines that are currently wandering around have a very low chance to decide to use the nearest emplacement in a 512 map unit radius around them, both to pass the time, and in case an enemy appears. Marines that enter a turret while idle will also stay on it for an extra 5 seconds.
