Survivability Mechanics

Tanking mechanics are split between Survivability Mechanics (mob hitting player) and Threat Mechanics (player hitting mob).
This page is specific to Survivability Mechanics.
- Your capacity to absorb, avoid, or reduce damage taken.
- Mitigation may specifically refer to your character's armor, avoidance, spell resistance, or damage reductions.
- Specifically refers to your sum chance to be missed, to dodge, and to parry.
- Block chance is a separate mechanic.
- Your health pool adjusted for mitigation.
- Can vary according to incoming damage type (spell school, physical, etc.)
- Useful tool to evaluate different survivability stats (e.g. +dodge vs stamina, +defense vs armor, etc.)
- Effective health divided by expected incoming damage per time.
- Gives an idea of how useful a given survivability stat is in practical terms.
