In #5288, I replaced most uses of VM image
ubuntu-latest
in GitHub actions configs withubuntu:22.04
, because of confusing communication from GitHub about how they were rolling out the update forubuntu-latest
(#5288 (comment)).I think I was a bit over-aggressive with the search-and-replace for that 😅
For jobs that are just running containers or those
all-successful
jobs, it's fine to letubuntu-latest
float. This PR proposes doing that, so those configs don't have to be changed again in the future wheneverubuntu-22.04
is retired on GitHub Actions.
