@IndiansIncredible what UI would you want to pop up for moving the folder then? Have you seen a user go from folder to desktop to folder? Would that user be right click saavy? Would they be saavy to install PowerToys? |
I am not sure about the usage of this functionality when power toys were
introduced and in vista.
I prefer to have it in both file explorer menus and right click.
Vista had this functionality
It was very useful for me because I typically save documents or images in
desktop and then take time to organize.
This functionality shouldn't be restricted to folder to desktop to folder.

@IndiansIncredible I misread your initial statement. I thought you said users were using the desktop as a middle ground versus just copying the files directly to the target. This could be part of a "PowerMenu" style thing. |
* Add file path to files in Folder Plugin * Add folder subtitle display path when wildcard '>' is used
Just copy/cut and paste. Come on... |
How i copy paste the content and clean it. Today, i have something called move.cmd which is below I run this every week to move it. There are many who do differently. That folder office is again not in desktop. it is in another drive which is hardlinked / symlinked. Like me there are 1000's of people who save items in desktop before moving to another folder. |
I agree this needs to go into PowerToys. There's a registry hack that currently does this: https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-copy-to-move-to-on-windows-vista-right-click-menu/ It's been available at least since XP. It still works in Windows 11 but you need to go through an extra click to access it now. |
A powertoy rightclick menu item to copy/move to a different folder.
That would solve a lot of people's problem who save it in desktop and then thinking how to move properly to a specific folder without opening extra explorer etc.
used to have it.
