We'll want to wait for airbnb/javascript/issues/2036 (amongst other deps), then:

  • adjust the import of eslint/lib/config/config-ops to use the new location, lib/shared/config-ops (perhaps falling back to the old location if we simultaneously want to support ESLint 5 and 6?)
  • update the create-project version

I tried tackling this today, but you're right in that other packages need to update too. Also, the merge functionality has changed to no longer expose a merge function, but instead instantiate some class in a weird way. I'll try and post some progress soon.

@eliperelman Hi! Once #1447 is reviewed/merged I was going to double back to this. Did you find out how to adapt our merge function usage for the changes in ESLint 6? (Just so I don't duplicate effort if already solved :-) )
