This has awkward spacing (no space between line 1 & 2). Maybe better as:

Finalize callback was not called upon garbage collection. test_general.finalizeWasCalled() returned ${finalizeWasCalled}

I have just been reading through the commit message guidelines.
I forgot to mention the subsystem being modified plus maybe other things.
I have removed that tick that said I followed the guidelines.
