Add fork support for new connections #11
Comments
It may be possible for this to work with the defined APIs, but with support from the underlying implementation, specifically the rdmacm. The fi_info structure for a connection request could be passed to another process, which then completes the connection. The catch is making sure that the fi_info:data field is usable by the other process. |
Comments in #49 may be applicable here as well. |
What would be nice is if, upon fork, all handles in the child go stale -- any attempt to use them would (safely) return an error. |

From the OFIWG F2F, there was a request to allow an application to indicate that a new connection request would be handed off to another process (forked or otherwise). The idea is that the provider could arrange its data structures accordingly, so that the new connection could successfully be migrated to another process.
