This PR brings a few improvements to the build, namely:

  • Build the documentation on Linux to check for errors.
  • Static analysis (pylint) and code smell checks (pep8)
  • Fixes to problems that pylint and pep8 found.
  • This also closes Improvements to header tests #15

skip pylint on Python 2.6
0eaf507 
pylint on Python 2.6 is no longer supported so skip
it in the build.  However, given that we're still testing
against it and building the docs for it we should be ok
static analysis wise.
