Transformer benchmarks are too noisy to judge whether this is a perf improvement. On average they seem to show a mild improvement. NB: As 90% of the time in the benchmark is spent in parser and semantic, a 0.5% improvement on benchmark measures would represent a 5% speed up in transformer itself. |

Checks for whether JSX transforms are enabled are on a hot path. Make them as fast as possible: 1. Only check a single bool. 2. Store flags directly in `self` rather than behind a reference.
