Odd... did black
change versions?

No, I manually fixed this because I was looking at the code and I have a weirdly strong dislike of code being spread out more than necessary, which I try to not impose too much in code review haha. I can revert if this is inappropriate to have changed..
(Black's algorithm is to respect trailing commas. If you have them, it will force a new line. If you remove the comma, it will condense to a single line.)

Looks good!
(I'll refrain from mentioning my preference for formatting choices that reduce diff churn, but they definitely exist)

First part of #12601: we need to test that the default lockfile works for all expected Python versions. It's important that we not only install the tool PEX, but also run it to make sure there are no missing runtime dependencies.
These tests do not yet actually consume the lockfile, but that will happen soon once we change the default to be
<default>
. This is prework.These tests will fail if the expected Python interpreters are not available in the environment. We definitely want to error in CI in that case, so we can fix CI to have the relevant interpreters. But this does mean
./pants test ::
is less likely to work for desktop use.This does not test iPython and Setuptools because they don't have tests set up already: #12658 and #12657.
