Audio Patterns
Audio Patterns react to music connected via a headphone-style cable.
On the SmartMatrix Display, an audio connector is used along with a Y-cable. Connect one of the male ends and the female end between your music source and your speakers. Connect the other male end to the SmartMatrix Display. You can use an extension cord to move the display farther away from your audio equipment.
The SmartMatrix Shield needs an audio adapter board to be connected to enable this feature. The hardware details are in this tutorial.
Auto Gain Control
The Aurora firmware has auto gain control logic to automatically adjust the levels of the Audio Patterns to the volume of your music. You can choose between setting the levels manually and automatically by using the up/down buttons on the remote when showing Audio Patterns. "1" is the lowest level of gain, and "11" is the highest.
Audio Calibration
Audio Calibration is used to remove noise from the Audio Patterns so you just see your music and not noise in the pattern. Run calibration without any music playing. You can connect up your audio source with music pause for the best calibration. You can run calibration at any time.
In the Settings menu, there is a menu entry for “Audio Calibration”. Inside the settings page, use left/right to choose “Auto”, and press select to start calibration. Press select again to stop, and back to exit the menu.
