Great work by the way! I'm getting a wezterm: command not found when I source bashrc after making the updates. How would I go about getting this resolved?

Which OS are you using? How did you install WezTerm?

I’m using Pop OS and I downloaded it using flatpack. I installed it again using the downloaded file.

How would you open any selected file with broot back into helix?

@chtenb You can do that by:

• creating a script hx-open.sh as I said above
• redefining the way broot open files by adding the following to ~/.config/broot/verbs.hjson:

    {
        invocation: edit
        key: enter
        execution: "hx-open.sh {file}"
        leave_broot: false
        apply_to: file
    }

Just a note:
If you're on windows you may need to replace all processname checks (like hx.exe instead of hx).
Moreover, you have to prepend all calls to bash scripts with "bash ".
For some reason the \n or \r do not register properly. Haven't figured out why, but leaving them out and manually pressing enter works fine for now.

I'll get wezterm to open another pane but it won't run an rs file. The only thing that will show up is the prompt. Would I be missing?

@rcortezk9: Please try this regex to parse the status line:

It's strange that there is no command is sent to the bottom pane. You can debug it one by one:

• make sure that you can get the filename from the status line
• and the command to run your code is sent to the bottom pane

Does the regex get the file extension?

Given this status line:

That regex is used to get the filename and the current line number:

Great ideas @quantonganh ! I can't get the part that opens the file on running helix from broot to work though. I think the reason is that the TITLE of the pane in wezterm is static to my home folder. I tried your .wezterm.lua and the first example here https://wezfurlong.org/wezterm/config/lua/PaneInformation.html but no luck. Do you have any idea?

@VasilisManol I'm not sure what you were trying to do with the pane title, but the pane id is obtained by the direction.

Yes, sorry I wasn't clear. In line 10 depending if the panel has a running hx instance the command :open is passed or just start a new hx . It is exactly there that it doesn't work. The line if [ "$program" = "hx" ]; then is always false.

Then, you can use JSON output to parse it more accurately:
