Would it be feasible for the plugin to set a variable of some sort to let the template know if math needs to be included on the current page. This would avoid loading KaTeX or MathJax (or whatever you use) on pages that don't use math.
It would appear to be simple enough for articles & pages, but I guess it could get tricky on index pages that include part of the content of articles.
