Debanjana
Hi, I'm Debanjana Haldar.
I'm working on UX/UI design for PowerUp Application.
I'm currently pursuing engineering in Kolkata, India. I'm on a quest to find the sweet spot at the intersection of design, technology and film. I love travelling and if I’m ever in your locality, you will find me at your nearest tea-house sipping away while doodling or rhyming words. If you ever want to geek out over something you’re passionate about or just philosophize uncertainty in general, shoot me an email! I'm also available on LinkedIn.

While completing the avatar on the wheelchair, I had difficulties in getting the correct feet position. Other than that, I was facing time management issues because I have my final semester exams going on.
Have they been resolved, and if so, how?
Yes, I did feet study and with practice, I got the correct feet position for the avatar. I made a schedule to balance study time and work time over the week for this and the upcoming week. I'm sticking to my schedule and everything is treating me well.

To improve the past designs, more research had to be done and more feedback had to be gathered to make the
designs truly inclusive.
Have they been resolved, and if so, how?
I received a lot of help from May in gathering feedback from people to understand the situation better and design accordingly. Reaching out to other Systers and getting feedback on improving the designs also helped a lot!

• New Wheelchair for avatar (electric)
• Improvements on old wheelchair (non-electric)
• Shoes for avatar
What issues or roadblocks have you encountered this week?
It was difficult to find a design for the new wheelchair which complied with latest chair designs and also looked affordable. Another issue was that the non-electric wheelchair design looked too big for the current avatar.
Have they been resolved, and if so, how?
One solution is the have two wheelchair designs – electric and non-electric as options for the user to choose from. I worked on improving the old wheelchair design by changing the avatar body to wheelchair ratio.

What issues or roadblocks have you encountered this week?
Creating the accessibility elements in a single layer was not viable considering that the avatar has different outfit options.

The solution was to divide those items into layers which would be either above or below the outfit layer or both.

Remote user testing is challenging. The full body avatar looks small and out of proportion as compared to the scenario background UIs.

Preparing a questionnaire which leads to a direct answer was a solution. For the avatar/scenario situation, the scenario UIs need to be adjusted and redrawn to make it in proportion to the full body avatar.

Managing all the assets can be very time-consuming, especially checking and rechecking if all of them are integrated properly. There are a lot of outfits and accessories!

Working towards possible positions and posture for college avatar as well as high school avatar. Deciding upon one single expression/posture for the whole game might not provide the desired user experience. This provides scope for research and future work.
Have they been resolved, and if so, how?
A possible solution is to create different postures and positions and changing the postures of avatar mid game according to her emotions. This provides scope for future work.
