Running Telly: Unusual Configurations

Datacenters

Some users are using telly remotely on machines from Hetzner, OVH, and so on. Some IPTV providers block connections from these datacenters. Some providers will enable connections on request.

Here are some ways that other telly users have gotten around these limitations.

Most everything here is taken from the Discord and not tested.

Plex in the datacenter, telly in your home:

@Migz, using 1.5:

Set listen address to "0.0.0.0".

Set discover_address to your ddns address.

On your home router, forward port 6077 [or your telly port, if different] to the machine running telly.

In plex, add the virtual tuner manually with http://ddnsaddress:port.

Playback seems flaky, half the time it works but other half it gives the usual network error and the logs fill with errors.

telly in the datacenter with VPN:

This heading was added as a placeholder for the situation where the IPTV provider connection had to be over a VPN. We've yet to see a situation where that's required or wanted, until recently with one user. Perhaps that user will provide details on any solution they find.
