If we have provided you with a temporary university computing account, then please follow the steps below to configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

  1. CHECK DEVICE COMPATIBILITY

First, check that your device is compatible with the latest version of the Duo Mobile App. To do this, access one of the links below based on the type of device that you intend to install it on:

Important: you must check whether your device is compatible with the latest version of Duo Mobile before proceeding with a download. If you begin enrolling your computing account then find out that your device isn't compatible, you will be locked out of the account and must contact IT Services for further help!

(You may need to update your device before you can complete the app installation).

If you are unable to download the Duo App due to the Google Play store being blocked/unavailable in your country, then please read Duo's article for instructions to download and use the Duo App.

  2. DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE DUO MOBILE APP

Download and install the app from the relevant app store link above.

My newly installed Duo Mobile App is asking for a QR code to add an account - what should I do?

    • You should not attempt to manually add your University account to the app. Instead, once you've downloaded the app, go to Step 3 and opt-in to see step-by-step instructions.
  3. OPT IN AND ENROL YOUR COMPUTER ACCOUNT

You should now opt in and enrol your temporary university computer account via the link below, but only once you have read and confirmed the following:

    • You must have followed steps 1 and 2 first.
    • Once started, you must complete this enrolment process in order to maintain access to the account.
    • You must have a mobile phone or tablet with you to complete the enrolment process.
    • We recommend opting in via a desktop/laptop browser rather than on your phone/tablet. After opting-in, please ensure you log back in to MUSE ("My University of Sheffield Environment") once more to complete the setup. Instructions are provided on-screen, and the whole process should only take a couple of minutes. Once you’ve enrolled a device, future logins will be protected by Duo.

Click here to opt in now.
