Current Sensors

Shunt size (Rs) Current range
0.025 ohm 0A - 5A
0.05 ohm 0A - 2.5A
0.1 ohm 0A - 1.25A
1 ohm 0mA - 125mA
10 ohm 0mA - 12.5mA

The size of the shunt resistors R14-R20 determines the current range of the sensors S1-S7. Best precision and accuracy is achieved when the current range is as small as possible. The shunt resistor must, therefore, be chosen based on the application. The table above shows example shunt sizes and corresponding current ranges. If these ranges are not enough, the following equation can be used to calculate a suitable value for Rs:

Rs = 0.125 / Imax

The following shunt resistors are mounted as default:

Sensor Shunt resistor Shunt size Current range
S1 R14 0.025 ohm 0A - 5A
S2 R15 0.05 ohm 0A - 2.5A
S3 R16 0.05 ohm 0A - 2.5A
S4 R17 0.1 ohm 0A - 1.25A
S5 R18 0.1 ohm 0A - 1.25A
S6 R19 1 ohm 0mA - 125mA
S7 R20 10 ohm 0mA - 12.5mA
