History of Simplified Chinese Translations in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition

This wiki aims to document the historical changes in the Simplified Chinese translations of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition (including the former Pocket Edition).

Current status

The translations for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition differ from those of the Java Edition. The latter is translated by volunteers on Crowdin, while the former is handled by an outsourced team hired by Microsoft. Despite the strong community involvement in the Java Edition's translation process, the Bedrock Edition translations suffer from frequent inaccuracies due to what appears to be a lack of responsibility on the part of the translators. As a result, Bedrock Edition contains many frustrating translation issues. Since Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Legends are also translated by this outsourced team, and Minecraft Education and Minecraft Earth are based on Bedrock Edition, these versions face the same problems.

According to Mojang, it is difficult to change the translation process for Bedrock Edition. The Chinese Minecraft Wiki management team, along with many other translators and proofreaders on Crowdin, has been advocating for a solution to this issue for years.

After the release of Bedrock Edition 1.16.200, Microsoft conducted a survey about improving translations and corrected some errors in subsequent updates. However, the translations for new content continue to be error-prone, and the issue remains largely unresolved. Since then, Microsoft has not taken any further steps.

In response to the lack of action on related issues reported in the Bug Tracker (Mojira), @Ff98sha reorganized issue MCPE-61166 concerning the Simplified Chinese translations, hoping that Mojang will improve the translation process for all languages in Bedrock Edition. This issue has already received over 200 votes.
