History of Simplified Chinese Translations in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition

The purpose here is to record the historical changes regarding the Simplified Chinese translations of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition (and previous Pocket Edition).

Only changes in terms are listed, long text ones are ignored.

Status quo

Minecraft: Bedrock Edition translations differ from Java Edition, the latter being translated by volunteers on Crowdin, while the former is translated by an outsourced team hired by Microsoft. However, Java Edition's translation process has a good community engagement mechanism, while Bedrock Edition's translation is done by irresponsible translators. Therefore, Bedrock Edition has many annoying translations. Since Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Legends are also translated by this outsourced team, and Minecraft Education and Minecraft Earth are based on Bedrock Edition, these versions have the same problems.

According to Mojang, the translation process for Bedrock Edition is difficult to change. The Chinese Minecraft Wiki management team, as the group maintaining the Simplified Chinese translations for Minecraft, along with many other translators and proofreaders on Crowdin, has been advocating for a resolution to this issue for years.

Although Microsoft released a survey about improving the translation for the Bedrock Edition after the release of Bedrock Edition 1.16.200 and corrected some erroneous translations in subsequent updates, the translations of new content are still riddled with mistakes, and thus, the issue has not been substantively resolved, and Microsoft has not taken any further steps since then.

Due to the lack of response to related issue in the Bug Tracker (Mojira), @Ff98sha has reorganized an issue MCPE-61166 for Simplified Chinese, hoping that Mojang will modify the Bedrock Edition translation process for all languages. This issue has already received over 200 votes.
