15.07-16.07 - RIOT Summit 2016

RIOT is the friendly operating system for the Internet of Things. The first summit of the RIOT open source community will be held from July 15 – 16, 2016, at Freie Universität Berlin. The RIOT Summit aims for bringing together RIOTers, beginners and experts, as well as people interested in the IoT in general and decision makers who plan to deploy RIOT in the future. The event combines plenary talks, hands-on tutorials, and demos. The Summit will not only inform about latest developments and recent case studies, but will also help to gather feedback from the community to shape the future of RIOT. Registration for the event is required but no fees will be charged.

17.07-24.07 - Europython

It is the largest Python conference in Europe. Regular ticket sales have started. Get your ticket as long as they last. You can buy tickets @ https://ep2016.europython.eu/en/registration/. They have also published the Call for Proposals for EuroPython 2016. This will run until March 6, so please submit your proposals early. You can access it at https://ep2016.europython.eu/en/call-for-proposals/. It is being held on 17-24 July in Bilbao.

Activities:

  • @tushar-rishav will do a "contribute to OS" workshop for newcomers where people go through the coala newcomer program and learn git, rebase, commit messages and so on. After that they are qualified to contribute to other OS projects as well since we have rather high guidelines on contributions.
  • @mr-karan got us a helpdesk - we still need people to man it as he can't come it seems/
  • We will hopefully do a sprint! All coala hackers present in one room and potentially newcomers! We're listed on https://wiki.python.org/moin/EuroPython2016/Sprints.

Sponsoring: Some students are directly sponsored apparently. EuroPython granted us free accommodation for 5 GSoC students. We hope that we can spread the costs of everybody who has a hard time affording this stuff equally amongst all of us.

22.06-26.06 - openSUSE Conference

The openSUSE Conference is the annual openSUSE community event that brings people from around the world together to meet and collaborate. The organized talks, workshops, and BoF sessions provide a framework around more casual meet ups and hack sessions. A party here and there provides the time to relax and have fun, making connections on a more personal level.

28.05-05.06 - Pycon

Pycon 2016 is being held in Portland, Oregon between 28 May and 5 June. PyCon is the largest annual gathering for the community using and developing the open-source Python programming language. PyCon is organized by the Python community for the community. They try to keep registration far cheaper than most comparable technology conferences, to make PyCon accessible to the widest group possible. PyCon is a diverse conference dedicated to providing an enjoyable experience to everyone.Their code of conduct is intended to help everyone maintain the PyCon spirit.

21.04-24.04 - GNOME.Asia Summit

GNOME.Asia Summit is the featured annual GNOME Conference in Asia. The event focuses primarily on the GNOME desktop, but also covers applications and the development platform tools. It brings together the GNOME community in Asia to provide a forum for users, developers, foundation leaders, governments and businesses to discuss the present technology and future developments.
