Fundraising
coala is free and awesome. Still we need money for doing some of the cool stuff we're doing:
- Money for hosting our website
- Money for T Shirts and stuff at conferences
- Money for funding travel
- Money for funding students similar to GSoC, probably after the GSoC to "bridge" the time until the next GSoC or so?
There are several ideas for raising funds for coala:
- A fundraiser ( indiegogo/generosity).
- Doing community aided workshops on several universities and conferences, the community receives a donation for their support.
By the members. We might want to establish something like a board that is elected or something.

We need:
- A really cool video
- A list of perks
- Workshops
- A coala cola or beer at the next conference we meet
- Set up a coafile for your project
- Write a custom bear for you
- coala-relevant upstream contributions
- Your logo somewhere on a number of T Shirts we print next
- ...?
- A platform (generosity.com? Own website?)
- A plan to get social media attention
Idea: coala developers travel through all universities of the world and conduct cool workshops. From what they earn they subtract what they need (travel, meal) and donate the rest :D
The idea is to start the experiment from two favorable cities in India:
- Bangalore
- Hyderabad
Both the cities have favorable culture for software industries and host dozens of colleges. Ideally we can reduce the travel cost and increase the revenue by targeting the hot spots.
We can start from summer maybe? (Need to come to a conclusion after discussing with members)
