Ramazan Burak Sarıtaş Research
React is a well-known open source JavaScript library which is used to create interactive user interfaces for web. Initially launched by developers from Meta (formerly known as Facebook) and currently being maintained by Meta and community of external contributors.
I picked this repository because I have some level of interest in front-end development. Even though I did not work with React in particular before, I've heard about it a lot. The repository currently has around 1600 contributors, and is used by around 13.9 million developers based on the current info on the repository.
The repository currently has around 900 open, 11000 closed issues with 66 labels to categorize the issues. There are many new issues opened every day, even though some of them might be considered as junk (example). But the overall repo has a good issue-tracking system, I found the "Status: Unconfirmed" label pretty useful for huge open source repositories such as this one to verify the issues recently opened.
The repository currently has 262 open, 12000 closed pull requests, which I think is a good number for a project with this number of contributors considering the maintenance of the library.
- Many of the labels in the issue-tracking system has no descriptions, so as an outside observer, I did not understand what some of those labels are used for.
- All content of the Wiki page of the repository has been moved to the reactjs.org website. It's cool to have a seperate website for a project of this size, but it could be harder to find a particular information on a whole website rather than the Wiki page of the repo.
