Yes - This issue is merging one-off social media ad and tracking issues into a parent Shield Initiative to block social media ads and tracking.

Initial focus is on the embedded widgets & tracking following social networks:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Google+ (embedded tracking - the Google+ network itself is on a probable sunset course and the G+ tracking embeds are a larger concern)

Objective serves to address privacy protection from social media network tracking that takes place in the larger Web. Tracking has been merged into embedded social media widgets that are common on the web.

Issues above have been investigated and resolved where applicable.

Additional filters have been applied to adblock-lists for FB tracking (3p) brave/adblock-lists#21

Additional clarification has been made re: social networks, and social widgets have "evolved out" of some of the originally reported issues.

Closing this investigation, and will reference in the future for relevant/new reports and issues.
