CDT 12.2.0 M2 for 2025-09 M2

This is a draft as it cannot be merged due to it removing org.eclipse.tm.terminal.view.core from CDT's p2 update site and the following projects depend on it:

• linuxtools
• tcf
• pdt

@laeubi I guess we need org.eclipse.tm.terminal.view.core for a while longer - lots of projects are depending on it. I think because it isn't listed in any of the feature.xmls anymore it isn't being included in the p2 site.

I'll look at how to add it back it - perhaps directly in the category.xml - so that we can publish CDT m2. Let me know if you have any other ideas of how to best resolve this.

Here are the dependencies on terminal parts still by pdt and tcf - I made this from simrel.aggran by assuming linuxtools will be contributing their update this week

I have put a workaround - not thrilled by it. See eclipse-cdt/cdt#1273

@jonahgraham I'll try to complete my work on

• Let old terminal view delegate to the new API and add deprecation eclipse-cdt/cdt#1259

that seems like the best solution here for the migration on the long run.

But it would be very important that consumers stop to reference the bundle in their features as this will lock down version (@merks has already adjusted the simrel documentation here) and at best they should test the new snapshots of CDT to report problems like required here) so we can hopefully getting this done until M3.

And of course they should plan a migration to the new terminal view provided by platform!

I expect @zulus is best able to answer that question, but things do appear to be stalled for a very long time. This issue also needs attention to eliminate Lucene duplicates:
