Implant Basics
The implant module is the basis for placing implant's and their components into a project. Typically this is for visualizing a surgical plan, estimating implant locations in relation to prosthetic planning.
The splint panel can be toggled on/off from the ODC Control panel. The panel can also be collapsed with the small arrow at the top left. Also panels can be dragged and re-ordered to match your current work flow. A list of the current implants you are working on is displayed.
##Starting Implant Project Adding implants to the Blender project simply let's the addon know which objects are involved with each implant. There are two ways to start planning implants.
- Add each implant individually. Simply press the "Add a Space" button, then select the tooth number from the drop down (green box) where you plan to place the implant (European numbering. Upper right fist molar is #16).
In really odd cases, like where you are placing 2 implants in the same spot (two roots of a molar), use the text box (yellow box) to type in a number. Example 15.5 to indicate two implants in the same spot.
- Use the "Plan Multiple" function. If planning multiple implants, the "Plan Multiple" function may be more efficient. It brings up a menu with 32 teeth. Select the implant by left clicking on the implant (blue star), then left click all the spaces you want to plan implant placement. You can left click again if you selected one by mistake. Hit 'Enter' or left click anywhere on the screen to confirm.
##Inserting Implant Into the Project
- Left click anywhere in the scene to place the 3d cursor.
- Select the implant space in the implant panel. And then click "Place Implant"
In this case, because there is no other frame of reference, the implant is placed aligned with the world Z coordinates. The implant platform will be at the 3d cursor. The implant can then be manipulated into position. See the Implant Intermediate documentation for methods to palce implants from prosthetic plans.
