The Gallery Plugin for AVideo offers a YouTube-like layout, organizing your homepage with various dynamic sections such as trending, suggested videos, playlists, and more. Below is an explanation of how you can customize the sections and improve the user experience.


1. Big Video Section

This section displays a large video preview on the homepage. You can choose to show live streams and/or VOD (videos on demand) here.

  • Options:

    • Disable: Hides the big video section.
    • Show Live and VOD: Displays both live streams and VODs.
    • Show Live Only: Displays only live streams.
    • Show VOD Only: Displays only VODs.

    Additional settings:

    • Logged-in users only: Display the big video section only to logged-in users.
    • Homepage only: Show the big video section exclusively on the homepage.

2. Trending Videos

This section displays videos that are currently popular on the platform based on engagement like views and watch time.

  • Customization:
    • Set the row count to define how many trending videos to show.
    • Customize the section's title.

3. Suggested Videos

This section highlights videos based on user preferences and previous views.

  • Customization:
    • Change the title of the section.
    • Define how many suggested videos to show.
    • Set the display order.

4. Shorts

The Shorts section showcases short-form content (similar to YouTube Shorts). Note: This section requires the Shorts Plugin to be installed.

  • Customization:
    • Set the title and number of shorts to display.
    • Define the order in which the shorts appear.
    • Shorts Plugin Requirement: To enable the shorts section, you need to install the Shorts Plugin.
    • Shorts Duration: Define what qualifies as a short video by setting the shortMaxDurationInSeconds parameter in the Shorts plugin. The default is 60 seconds.

5. Playlists

This section displays video playlists on your homepage.

  • Customization:
    • Set the number of playlists to display.
    • Customize the title and order of the playlists section.

6. Most Watched & Most Popular

  • Most Watched: Displays the most viewed videos.

  • Most Popular: Displays the most liked videos.

  • Customization:

    • Set how many videos to display in these sections.
    • Customize the title and set the display order.

7. Categories and Subcategories

Organize videos by categories and subcategories, making it easy for users to find content based on their interests.

  • Customization:
    • Set how many categories to display.
    • Enable subcategories for each category.
    • Optionally, show only suggested categories.

8. Subscribed Channels & Tags

For logged-in users, this section shows content from channels and tags they are subscribed to.

  • Customization:
    • Define how many subscribed channels or tags to display.
    • Customize the display order.

9. Private Content

This section displays private videos that only specific users can view.

  • Customization:
    • Set the number of private videos to display.
    • Customize the title of this section.

10. Sorting and Customization

Allow users to sort videos by different criteria such as name, date, or views.

  • Customization:
    • Enable or disable sorting by various parameters.
    • Customize section titles and set the display order.

Sort Sections

You can sort the sections (control the order in which they appear on your homepage). To do this:

  1. Go to the Plugins Manager.
  2. Click the "Sort Sections" button.
  3. Drag and drop the sections in the desired order.

Switch Theme Button

You can add a button allowing users to switch between different themes on your platform.


Fullscreen Video Option

Enable videos to play in fullscreen mode directly from the homepage, enhancing the viewing experience.


How to Access the Settings:

To configure the Gallery Plugin and other plugins, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Plugin Manager:

    • From the top left hamburger menu (three horizontal bars), click on the menu icon.
  2. Go to Plugins Manager:

    • In the dropdown menu, select Plugins to access the Plugin Manager.
  3. Find and Configure the Gallery Plugin:

    • Locate the Gallery Plugin in the list of installed plugins and click the Parameters button. This will open the configuration page where you can adjust settings like section order, titles, and features such as Shorts and Big Video.

By following these steps, you can easily customize the layout and appearance of your platform’s homepage.
